Hey guys
Just thought id introduce myself on here. Im a student photographer with an insatiable taste for the mountains. Not ironically i love to combine the two and am currently trying to develop a few projects using the olde Mountains of Mourne as a backdrop.
Spent alot of time around Lough Shannagh region during the summer camping and shooting every day with my trusty film cameras, would love to show some of you my work, and of course see yours :)
I would really love to learn the mountains, climbing/ walking - whatever :D and where better to meet people who can help me learn them??
Would be great to hear from some of you

Welcome Gary.

Welcome to the NI Wild forum. If you take time to read through the various topics you'll see that this forum really lens (lends) itself in providing plenty of opportunities for you to get out into the hills and focus your energies in developing your mountain skills. Sometimes the weather can have a sort of negative effect on what you wish to do but if you're well prepared you can snap up any chances to *expose yourself to the great outdoors.
*not to be taken as an invitation to undress! ;)
I look forward to seeing your photographs.

:D Thanks Guys
Currently working on a website at the moment, or even a little flickr :)
Im personally not very weather dependant, will try and shoot in all conditions- mostly shooting surfaces and the like up there at the moment.
Have a small idea milling about, of gathering photographic environmental portraits of walkers in the mournes, think it would be cool to see a cross section of types :)
When i get a more definitive idea locked down will certainly post it up here.
However if any of you would be remotely interested in participating or even if you would be interested in seeing something like this, gimme a shout :)

Hi Gary, welcome to the forum.
Can we ban this guy from the photo comp, I was thinking of suggesting "surfaces" as the title if I ever got the chance? ;)

Hi Gary,
Very interested to read your post.
I am into photography but very much as an amateur. The only time I really get the camera out is when I head into the hills.
Please do share a link to your images if/when you get them online as I always enjoy looking at mountain photography particularly when it's of our own mountains.
I have a few (very amateurish) shots of my jaunts to the Mournes up on Flickr at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50277096@N00/sets/72157607561841493/with/6365429569/
