Hi folks,
Ed here, from Belfast :)
I'm relatively new to the whole outdoors thing, at least as an adult.
Grew up in a village called Upperlands, so spent a lot of time out and about exploring as a child, but when I moved to Belfast for uni, my involvement in the outdoors was pretty non existent for the following six years or so.
Recently I took up a bit of hillwalking to try and combat several years of cheeseburgers and sedentary lifestyle (thank you office job) and now I'm wondering why I left it so long to get back into the outdoors.
Coming here to learn more about the outdoors in NI and keep an eye out for meets, day hikes etc.
Got a lot of learning to do so I suspect I'll be browsing a lot of old threads :)

Welcome along Ed, there are a fair few previous threads containing some great information and it only takes a question to get many answers from people in the know.
A starting point might be some of the kit lists, one of the best being from RedLeader.
