I heard a rumor that because of labour and textile price increases in Asia it's expected that gear will become more expensive next year. Has anyone heard anything?
-
Haven't heard that but it could be used as justification for having bought (another stove?) a Jetboil Flash off ebay and the Zep2 of t'internet! ;D
-
Forget about the jetboil, i see it as a reason for me to look for a filipino girlfriend!
Dont worry about the packed lunch darling, id like a new carrymat ;D

It looks like all prices for clothes, not just outdoors wear are increasing:
"Biggest ever month-on-month increase in prices down to more expensive cotton, labour and transport costs, says ONS"
http://gu.com/p/3xpqg
"Clothing prices also rose by a record amount - of 2% - between the two months, with the biggest price rises found in men's outerwear."

Yup, cotton price went through the roof, the stats look pretty nasty (http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=cotton&months=60).

its a safe bet that prices will increase in 2012 ;) no matter what you are buying.
go out a buy a tanker of crude oil, sure to worth more next year.

At least it gives you an excuse for buying kit if you think about it, buying kit now will save money in the long term. You are doing your bit saving etc, how can anyone hold that against you.
