A couple of new, more experienced canoeing friends took me down the whitewater course at Shaws Bridge in my Old Town Charles River last night. It was great fun and went reasonably well. Managed to stay in the boat but did ship a few buckets of water accidently getting side on to one of the weirs when I was practicing crossing the moving water :D
Highly recommended, can't wait to do it again!

wow sounds good- google map link?? shawsbridge for us "northy's"

i'm up Shaws bridge every saturday the weirs are great for surfing and you get all levels of kayakers there during the day. Mobile team adventure base themselves there all day saturday and for £15 you get the hire of a kayak and the gear plus an instructor to take you out for a few hours. Now thats wot i call value for money ;D

Anyone up for heading out with MTA some saturday then?? A wee NIOF outing perhaps????

Um dunno lol Northern Ireland Outdoors Forum perhaps? :)
The guy seems nice on phone, Pre- booking is useful if you plan to white water, if it is just an intro to paddling pre-booking isnt.
