hello I live in antrim town and would like to start map reading im not a novice but not a wizard, I would like a few hard routes, hilly the better and also on separate days I would like to go on weighted runs agin I would like them to be hilly, Its just I dont know what locations are good to map read or what routes to run as I just moved here Thank you ever so much.

Glenariff forest is reasonably well mapped out. Here is a link to the website: https://maps.osni.gov.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=OPM006FLA. you mentioned some hills, well you will find plenty up and down there. You can make it as hard as you like, plus some great open country. From Antrim town your talking 35 minutes drive i would think.I'm not a runner myself but I'm sure you will find something interesting. Or if you can go further a field the Mournes offers countless runs. Challange yourself to the Mourne way challenge. search online for it.

orienteering seems to be a good way to learn navigation, been meaning to try it myself, check out www.niorienteering.org.uk i'm hoping to do a night navigation exercise in the mournes soon, keep and eye on the forum for that
