I love the thoughts of just saying sod it, I'll spend the night up a mountain and still go to work the next day, but in reality every time I stay up a mountain it takes me far longer to get down again than I first expect. A bit too risky. Perhaps if there was a way to bypass Belfast on the way home again, I can imagine the traffic is horrible heading towards Belfast from Newcastle in the mornings.
Enjoy your night bud.

Now you're just rubbing it in!
Looks like its going to be a Kindle and Rum'n'Coke night ;D Might even treat myself to a dinner on a plate instead of out of a bag :D
-
:( Didn't get out of work 'til 630. Looks like a good night for a night hike, clear with a bright moon (around Hillsbrough Lake anyhow). Have fun.
-
Pity I didn't look at this forum earlier. Could have been a possibilty... Let us know how you got on....
-
Well, tell us all. Was it wet'n'windy? Bivvy or tent?
-

-
Looks awesome. Seem like you managed to get a decent break in the weather. How are you finding the Laser Comp?
-
Mojito's wow your treating yourself. I see you are wearing your new wind shirt, how did that go?
-
In the picture below you can see the track I followed down from Slievenaglogh(its the upper one)

Trassey from side of Spellack (http://www.flickr.com/photos/flipmeb/6328057355/)
Looking at that reminds me of a trip report by Red Leader where on a particularly muggy night where that path wasn't obvious and (if I recall correctly) he met the mighty obstacle that is the rock face on the side of Slievenaglogh whilst trying to reach Hare's Gap.
Good the see the pics Flipmeb. I remember thinking that the second day you got was a cracker. I thought for sure you'd have stayed a bit longer in the mountains.

Yep, drifted to the left on the way up the Hares Gap boulder field and met the slabs on the side of Slievenaglogh. Amusingly, I've also managed to wander off the upper path you can see in this pic and ended up basically coming straight down the side of Slievenaglogh (in daylight on a nice day!).

Sounds & looks like a great trip ;D
Wish I had the cojones to venture out alone :-\
-
great write up dave, that spellack cache caught me out one day too ;D
-
Great write up, thanks for sharing!
-
Nice one Dave. Steak and Mojito :)
I can't believe that Spellack cache is only a 3 terrain, there's a fair bit of hands and knees climbing to get up to it.
Bit of useless information: that track you took down from Slievenaglogh, I've heard two separate people call it the Green Line, no idea why.
-
.....I could here the ice in the mojito.....
haha....flash git...I like your style ;D .....thought it was just foam in the pic, obviously not ;D
-
ahh, didn't even notice :)

Fair play to you. Great Pics as well. Enjoyed reading about your adventures and also your geocaching.
