Title: Zephyros 1 Tent
Post by: surfnscenic on October 28, 2011
Apparently an alternative to the Laser Competition Laser 1 tent, cheaper to buy though a little heavier at 1.5kg.

Anyone any experience of this tent? :-\

Hi surf, yeah ive seen this tent mentioned on here before, i havnt got one but ive looked at it on youtube and read the reviews, it looks like a good sized tent for one person and its still possible to cook and sit up in it, dare i say it may be more comfortable than a gelert?

If i have the cash im getting one.

Rumblebum, yeah that was my comparison as well, the Gelert Solo.

The Zephyros is slightly bigger and more appealing especially being able to sit up in and if need be cook.  Nearly the same weight too.

I'm still thinking about this as an alternative to my Vango Spectre 300 which is a little too heavy for one person to carry though the space is great, and an improvement on the Gelert Solo.  I'm also hoping that the Zephyros would be a sturdier tent that could be used higher up. ???

I also recently purchased another rucksack- a Berghaus C7 Series 1 65+10L off ebay.  It is so easy to pack and will be especially useful when quick packing in the morning or if I had to move quickly any other time.

All I need to do is get out.  I've been restricted recently with other things happening. ::)

Hi surf, ive the berghaus C 7 1 bioflex, if its the same as that then i think its a real good rucksack, plenty of pockets and sits on me well. I got mine from lyndseys in coleraine.

Youve opened a can of worms with this tent mate, we'l all end getting one lol.

What if, now it's a "what if" remember, just say we get all the names of those wanting (as opposed to needing) a ('nother or new) tent and we could buy in bulk would we get them any cheaper?  Get them delivered to one address and then have a big "firstnight out" for the new tents?! Now that's a bigger can of worms. :D ;) ;D

Yeehaa, the Zep has just arrived.  Well boxed and came with a free mug the size of a bucket and a catalogue.  Had a go at putting it up in the house.  Not so good.  Maybe get voutside tomorrow.  Was asked that question; "What do you need another tent for? ;D

It's one of those questions that has the answer "If you need to ask that, you'll never understand"

Just got the Zephyros 2 pitched in the back garden.  Certainly much better than the Gelert Solo 1 in that I can sit up in the Zep2 which I couldn't do in the Solo. Roomy for one and I imagine rather close for two.

Now scheming on getting out to the hills for an overnighter.

Any chance of some pics? I'm interested in how much room there is for 2 sleep mats.

Yes. Plan to do some later.

Will do so in the morning.  I've put two roll mats in and they fit okay.  Probably dead on for two and kit can go in the porch or if need be outside in a poly or dry bag.

Maybe get out Saturday for an overnighter somewhere.  Most likely have to park at Meelmore for obvious reasons and walk from there.

Still looking at the map for alternatives.

Sweeeet, my Zephyros 1 tent arrive tonight, i even managed to get it half erected by tying 1 end to the radiator and the other to the bed, for a moment i thought about putting the garden sprinkler in through the bedroom window but thought that would be going to far.   ;D

The new secure parking Chuck alerted us to looks like a great spot to access Doan sort of area.

Hope these are of use. Had to hurry as it started to get stormy and then the rain came on.

Well it seems that the Zephros owners on NI Wild are getting good use out of the tents the bought last autumn.

I came across an article (http://terrybnd.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/wild-country-zephyros-lite-helios-2013.html) on Terry Bnd's blog about Terra Nova/Wild Country's plans for 2013 which you will probably find interesting.

2013 will see the launch of the Zephros 1 & 2 lite with weights of 1250g and 1400g respectively.  With the usual competitive price of the WC Zephros 1 it makes you wonder is a LC worth it for about 300g of a weight saving (and a futery pole sleeve you have to fit when pitching  :-\).

Apart from the new tents it also means that the current version of the Zephros 1 & 2 will likely be be available at a bargain price.

Lightweight backpacking will hold no barriers for anyone!

I have the Zephyros2 and whilst it's okay for one I wouldn't like to be with another person in it. I know it's only slightly bigger than the Zep1 but for solo I'd recommend the Zep2.
