We had an amazing Christmas camp at Donard Wood last year. We had a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and it was probably one of our best camps yet and I'm really looking forward to doing it again this year.
No plans have been laid yet, post thoughts about food, drink, games and date to this thread.
Suggestions:
1) One thing I am pondering is if we could move the actual dinner to earlier in the day, say around lunchtime. That way people who couldn't camp could still come up and eat, then shoot back down at teatime.
2) Festive treasure hunt
3) Charge a small fee per person to cover food. Dowser and Chuck got totally lumped paying for the Turkey and Mulled Wine last year.
4) Festive geocaching
Last years camp:

Getting in there early, I will put my thinking hat on

I will be there, armed with brussel sprouts and a mess tin like last year ;)
Afternoon grub sounds like a good idea. Guess that means we will be having turkey sandwiches or turkey curry around the camp fire later that night :D

I'll be adding any ideas to the first post so keep checking back to it.
Other than cooking dinner, everyone feel free to suggest ideas on things we can do over the weekend.

Santa's Treasure hunt for the kids and the bigger kids.

i like the treasure hunt idea, maybe using gps? but not all may have one :( suppose i could make a map of the area and do a little orienteering exercise, chocolate santa's hidden nearby for the kids, and bottles of budweiser hidden further away (shanslieve ::) ) for the adults

How about a Santas grotto .Any volunteers for Santa, beer belly and a white beard essential.

Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for potential dates in December to have the camp on? Last year we all had a great time and it would be good to get even more people.

For me, Saturday the 10th December works best as I am kid free that weekend. The only downside is, that I am staying in the Burrendale the night before for my work Christmas Do so I might be a bit under the weather.
Could everybody thinking about going this year put a post up confirming whether the 10th would be suitable, as we really need to get some plans made.

I can do most weekends just depend on where we have it and if im in work what time I get down to the mournes.
-
Lenny, as far as I was aware it is at the traditional NI Wild Site just below the ice house but I stand to be corrected. As for the date I think the 10th suits me.
-
no date suits me but the 10th has some potential for me to make my usual guest appearance ;D

Get up for a feed at least mate but remember to phone before you hit Newcastle on the off chance we need a Liam off-licence stop lol.
Hopefully this should help people find us.
