Title: Bouldering and coasteering
Post by: Damp Colin on May 30, 2009
Hi all new to this site, great idea to put all N.Ireland outdoor activites onto one site well done to the person who thought it. Right to get to the point i'm interested in coasteering and bouldering in this beautiful country of ours.
I completed level one kayaking about 3 months ago and kayak at Shaws bridge every saturday afternoon i would also like to try the above mentioned subjects as i did a lot of outdoor activities years ago, has anyone or does anyone know where and when these activities take place?
I have the wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid and most importantly the enthusiasm to give it ago, any help in this area would be greatly welcome  ;D

Welcome to the site Colin. I bouldered a little years ago but I've never been coasteering - sounds exciting..

I am just back from my first cliff jumping/ bloudering/ whatever you want to call it.  It was class!! Amazing views of Rathlin Island and fairhead, well just before the splash!!  Definately up for another go at it!

(I'm a big chicken though) where is home for you Colin??    I am in Ballycastle and my cousin usually jumps about the goat path here. I think it is hairy enough for a first timer.

I live just outside of Belfast in Newtownabbey, your very lucky to live in a beautiful and accessable part of the country for the outdoor person

I know this makes me look a bit thick,  :-[
What's coasteering?
I've heard of it a few times recently, but never plucked up the courage to ask.

I had to go and look it up too :D This is what I found:

What is coasteering?

Coasteering is a mixture of swimming, climbing, scrambling, and traversing the coastline. When it is safe to do so coasteering also allows you to jump into the sea from height. You can explore areas of the coast that you would never normally see. Coasteering is ideally a group activity that allows you to have fun with friends, family or corporate colleagues. If you wish to book your first Coasteering session/lesson contact us.

EBO is a well established international adventure training company that specialises in many extreme sports as well as Coasteering. It has become one of the UKs leading Coasteering providers.
