Hi all!
great forum this is :)
my name is Colin, from Belfast. myself, my dog and a friend are just starting out with the camping thing.
aint done very much of it but its always been of interest and a good laugh when we do get out on the rare occassions.
thought this would be a good place to get to know and maybe meet likeminded people and for some invaluable advice
were actually looking for somewhere to do a 1 nighter this weekend in north down area, any ideas would be most appreciated ;D

Welcome to the forum.
Not to sure about north down but if you go towards the mournes there is a great site called Bloody Bridge. Alot of us was there 3 weeks ago and had a great night.

Welcome Colin. Are you after some wild camping or campsite camping?

Welcome aboard.
Just park your car somewhere and walk and see where you take yourself. Hide behind a tree and set up the tent - keep it simple.

Hello and welcome!

I'm not sure where in North Down you would be able to camp except in proper paid campsites. The rules for camping in NI aren't overly friendly.

seen a post mentioning Orlock Point. anyone tried it there?

We had a stealth bivvy there a few weeks back - down by the shore. There wasn't a lot of room and I'd say it would be popular with walkers first thing in the morning, at least on the upper path. I've no idea what the rules are there but we had no issues (but it wasn't great weather and we were up and out early in the morning).

You could try the leadmines..

This looks cracking. Like the hobo stove.
gives you the option of a fire for heat i suppose but without any damage left the next day.
