well after exactly 1 year on the forum and over 1000 posts i thought i'd better get round to introducing myself ;D
so here's why i'm here, 1yr and 1 month ago i thought it was time to get a bit more active and try and lose the 'spare tyre' before i turned 40 so i decided to try and get into the mournes at bit more, then while googling for some info on a cave that a friend had mentioned to me i stumbled across the forum and got some very helpful advice, especially from chuck, suspectmonkey, 20clicks and some guy called J ??? ;D so i sort of hung around the forum getting inspired by all the tales of the great outdoors and i went from a 1 mountain a year man to 1 mountain a week :o , after 3 months i'd lost 2 1/2 stone (but then i started eating like a horse again as i was now burning the calories off each week :D ) as you know i ended up camping on the seven highest summits of NI and doing other things i once thought were only for weird people like walking up donard at midnight on new years eve 8) and to cap it all off i've recently been accepted to train for the mourne mountain rescue team, now would have been hard to imagine 12 months ago!
I'm really looking forward to the next 12 months with you all. I hope to get out a little bit further than the Mournes and to finally get my first bivvy done (a year ago i didn't know what a bivvy was :) ). Maybe do the Mourne Mountain Marathon and the Seven Sevens, again things i'd never heard of before i joined here.
So cheers everyone on ni-wild (http://www.thefugeeforums.com/forums/images/smilies/emote_beerchug.gif)
and yes i've started weighing my kit on the kitchen scales, oh the shame ::)

I reckon you were just waiting until you had a good enough "Mountain CV" before posting an introduction ;)
Seriously though, I reckon I should be taking some advice from you as I appear to have found the 2 1/2 stone you lost ;D
