Title: New DD Tarps (including new Solo Tarp!)
Post by: suspectmonkey on June 30, 2011
DD Hammocks have released some new tarps, including something I've been waiting for - the DD Solo Tarp.  It measures up at 2.8m x 1.8m compared to the standard tarp which is 3m x 3m.  To be honest I'd prefer to see it a bit smaller again, but at the same time I think the rectangular shape will be a lot easier to work with compared to the square shape of the standard tarp.  Who knows, if it sells well maybe they will release a Micro Tarp :)  Oh, weight is 490g vs. 720g for the 3x3.  Full details at the link below.

far too small for me, the 3x3 is just perfect to cover my hammock when stretched diagonally,and by putting a walking stick and guy line from one corner gives me plenty of shelter to cook under.
you can hardly consider the weight issue as its silly light too.

small=uncomfortable.

just my own opinion.

I'm in the Market for a new tarp as mine got ripped to shreds in Donegal last week , was holding out for the alpkit tarp when back in stock . The new DD tarp has me very tempted might just see what gives in first my patience or my itchy finger ,

Ps missed you guys  ::)

The DD tarps are excellent but their fabric is quite thin to save weight. The DPM tarps from the British Army are sturdier and heavily taped at the seams but obviously heavier. They're hard to lay your hands on and even harder to know it's defo the official Army one and not a crappy clone. You can usually tell because the official one can also be used as a stretcher.

This seems to be one:

Neither it was down to laziness  :-[ took my boys to tra na rossan beach and set up there for the day as the swell was awesome for bodyboarding and the breakers where leaving good water for us skimboarding , I knew the wind was to pick up the next day but it arrived a wee bit earlier than I expected , my eldest woke up with nightmare and wanted me in beside him , I really should of packed tarp away as it was getting blustery but I could not be arsed, tarp blew into barb fence and it's buggered
