Title: Folding Hexamine Stove £1.95
Post by: cerbera147 on June 09, 2011
Picked up a couple of these from the Trespass store at Junction One in Antrim. Think there is one in Banbridge as well.

It is the Highlander brand. £1.95 for the cooker with 24 small fuel tablets. This is one is black. They also had a silver one which came with 4 larger tablets.
I went for the smaller tablet version. They also sell fuel tablets on their own for £1.25 for 8 large ones. For that price I thought I'll just buy two cookers ;D

The larger tablets looked like this; hope I made the right decision on which one to get  :-\

These go for £5 at Cotswold. I also plan to try these with my Crusader cookset :)

These are the exact ones me and Grace use. good job and light aswell.

Careful when lighting them i found it hard noticing the flame and ended up burning myslef. The flame isnt a red or orange one at the start, its more see through.

Are you using the small tablets? How many are you using?

I'm thinking two small ones would be enough for two cuppas  ;D

Not sure about two small ones. We had two/three larger ones in it and had a mess tin of water boiling in 6/7/8 minutes. They're good but not that good.

Just tried 2 small tablets in my Crusader Cookset. Brought 250ml of water to boil in about 8 mins. Not great; perhaps 4 would do the trick.

Best bit is no soot on my cup ;D

There you go. Its not the most powerful but small and compact.

Our mess tins always ended up boggin how did you manage that?

They are selling them in Asda, although I am not sure of the price. Will find out and let you know.

I've also got a Vango Compact Gas Stove but these folding cookers are so cheap, light and effective it makes sense to have one lying about.

Don't know why in ended up nice and clean. My Crusader had the non stick coating on it but the black bits started to peel and flake into the water  :o
A friend took it into work and sandblasted all the black coating off. That may be part of it. I'm sure the hobo stove with soot it up nice; I'll try later ;D
