Title: Rab jacket - opinions sought
Post by: whoRya on May 30, 2011
I bought a Rab Bergen about 6 months ago.  I'm concerned that I'm already seeing signs of wear along where my shoulder straps and waist belt go.  I have only worn it a about 6 times with a day sack and never with a fully-loaded rucksack.  I'm not sure I could be able to take a picture since the jacket is black.  It is basically going bally (sorry, not sure the spelling is right, pronounced "bawlee").

I'm interested to hear from others whether they think this is very early to show this and if they have had a similar experience.

I'd imagine it could be something to do with the way you wash it? I know I've had jumpers/t-shirts that have been fine til my ma's ran them through the wash then they return bally/bawlee.

Not sure if this helps at all

I have a few bits of Rab kit made from the same or similar e vent fabric and I have not noticed any signs of wear yet (Year and a half on). How often is the jacket washed as dirt might speed up the wear process between the strap and the material, mine gets washed every outing.

Apart from that, I would get in touch with Rab and see what they say, as I would expect a jacket of that quality to last year's not months.

i use rab event trousers for work, they are about a year old and have probably only been washed twice and get a fair bit of wear, i don't recall noticing any damage but i'll have a look tomorrow when i get to work

Thanks for all the replies.  I haven't washed the jacket yet.  I'm glad to hear that other people's gear is holding up.  Definately think I'll have to go back to the retailer after my next trip and see what they say.
