My Trangia 27 arrived yesterday :) So brought it into work today to give it a blast.
Few pots of tea and a couple of bacon baps later I'm well impressed. Adding a little water to the meths defo made it soot up less ( I tried both ).
I'm loving the Non-stick although I've plastic bagged each pot so they dont rub or mark the coating, which will most likely start to annoy me in the future.
Now I need another trip to really try it out ;)

Glad you like it! I tried the water/meths thing, and whilst it does help I also found its easy to add too much water and then the meths burns really badly. Generally I find that the pots dont soot up too badly, but the frying pan does. Think it's because it sits higher above the flame; something from GCSE Chemistry makes me think yellow flame = soot :) Best thing I've found for removing soot from the bottom of pans is Tesco Value scouring pads. Foam on the top and abrasive foam on the bottom. Much kinder to the pans than Brillo pads, but still brings them up well. Of course some people insist that the black soot speeds up boiling times and leave it there :)

I agree with the use of the pot scourer's. Another way to clean the bottom of the pots is to use grass which I found to be reasonably effective.
The beauty of the Trangia is its stability and resistance to wind (not flatuence) but the stuff that slows down boiling.

Credit where it is due, the Trangia is a good wee bit of kit. I got one in the Cotswold sale, so I didn't have any choices about non-stick or not, I just took what was available. I've only used it a couple of times so far but well pleased with it.

ive had my trangia for about 12 years, and its a brilliant bit of kit, I only clean the parts of the pots etc that touch the food, the base of the frying pan is blacker than anything, but it still frys a mean bacon sandwich! :D wishing you many happy hours of cooking!!

Lets keep this going. What is your ideal Trangia food? Has anyone tried any of the recipes in the book that comes with it?
Last outing I had the pasta that you get in the fridge section of the supermarkets that has sausage meat, four cheeses etc inside it. 3 minutes on the boil drain then stir in a few desert spoonfuls of green pesto. Best eaten from a bowl as it can get cold quickly.
There is the inevitable sausages and bacon. Do you find you can get away without oil?

I also just clean the inside of the pot and just give the outside a quick wipe to remove any loose soot.
Do you find you can get away without oil?
I have the hard anodized trangia and found that if i didn't use oil everything got stuck to the pan so i might get a non-stick frying pan because i heard you can fry on these with no oil.

YOu could cook with no oil on the non stick version, the bog standard version will stick without some oil/grease, and whats the point of a fry without grease? lol :P
My most ambitious meal was a spag bol cooked from scratch , turned out a treat, but usually its just bacon and potato bread baps and tea! lol im hoping to get a gas convertor for my trangia soon, I will maybe do a blog review type thing if and when i do!!

I was looking at Cotswold website and see that the Trangia gas converter is priced at £50.
I have a Trangia and recently bought an MSR Pocket Rocket gas burner. I was experimenting and the MSR Pocket Rocket fits quite neatly into the Trangia. The MSR cost £30.
It may give you another option, save a few quid and have two seperate types of stove with a third combined. See attached link to photos.

I got a great deal on some Trangia gear a while ago. Got two pots, the kettle and a pot grip.
I use them with a Vango Compact Gas Stove and everything works well and stacks nicely in one another.
I am now looking at getting the Trangia frying pan. Cotswold have the regular Ultralight Aluminium pan for £7.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this one; is it any good or should I hold out for the non stick one? I've got some vouchers for Cotswold so am obviously leaning towards them :)

the lidl one works grand, have used one several times, the trangia is made of better stuff but is reflected in the cost!

I have the non-stick UL trangia 27 set, I will have it with me Sat and most likely be using it so you can have a wee jeffery at it.
Likewise, my Trangia 27UL will be coming along as well, so you can compare it with flipmeb's non-stick version. Kat picked up a Mini Trangia recently as well, so it might make an appearance :)

The Lidl isn't on offer now, I have one that I use, but I wondered if it's worth getting the upgrade. But at four times the price i would need to see a big difference.

bagging the pots so as not to ruin the nonstick frying pan is wasting bags dude,ive had mine for 16 yrs now and the pan hasnt a mark on it yet. its no shelf ornament either and gets plenty of use.
saying that though,the kettle developed a hole in the bottom of it lol just about a mm in diameter.
i do find though that theres always a little coloration in the boiled water and id rather not make tea with the standard kettle.

Amazon just got back to me, they are refunding me my £ as they said they want to make sure its not a problem with the batch :(
So what do I cook on now?

What sort of has stove? Gas is very handy but the semi full cans are a pain as once they're low they lose pressure. Did you get the Alpkit titanium pot and mug? I have a set of Tibetan ti pots but to be honest I was never that impressed with them. I always just use the Trangia Mini pot/pan on the gas stove instead.
Sorted althought at donard wood it may be open fire as I ordered a gas stove from ebay and its 2nd class delivery!
I ordered the Alpkit mytimug and pot so its worked out £5 more than my trangia system in total but I have the same stuff, well except for the kettle but the mug will do for that :) and its lighter at 385g complete(inc stove) instead of the 900g odd of the trangia system:)
Does mean an end to free fuel :(:( maybe I could drink the stuff I have :)

I have the Vango Ultralight stove. It's a real cracker. Dead light and has worked well for me to date. Only cost me £12 from Tiso tho.
Yeah I ordered the titanium ones from alpkit, the stove is a vango ultralite £10 new of ebay. Yeah tbh the gas pressure thing is one of the reasons I went for a trangia as no problems like that with fuel and I get the industrial meths for nowt. Might make a coke can meth burner when I can be bothered to use with the mug.
