Fair play. I'm hoping to get my wee fella on to some summits this summer.

I know exactly how you felt, taken my 6 year old daughter as far as the ice a couple of times but she wasn't keen on going further  :'( (unless i carried her  >:( ) my son did Donard when he was 6 though and put me to shame (it was my first Donard ascent), so i'll have to tag along on your next hike as I find she does the hills fine when theres another kid there  ;D

Fantastic  :)  I think the kids have more energy than we do and in my case considerably less mass to haul up a mountain.

Been looking at Cuilcagh out of the window while working all day.  More time looking than working I think!

Brilliant! It's always suprising what kids are capable of. As long as they get regular stops and you keep the pace nice and slow they're usually fine. The biggest problem can be boredom on a longer walk.
Now she needs a night poking a fire with sticks and eating too much chocolate! Although 666_packs daughter definitely rules the roost in Donard Wood  ::)

I take part in the Park Run thing (5k timed runs) in local parks each Saturday...... Its totally amazing how many kids there are doing it, and how fast they are, and their stamina is amazing...... i think kids have totally different energy providing mechanisms or something !

Last week, a kid, around 5 years old with his mum, completed it, and, he maybe did it around 35 minutes which is amazing to me.

Well done to both you and your daughter!  As has already been said, it's amazing the energy kids have!  Sounds like a great day out.

Mike, will have to get along to one of these Park Run's sometime, sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday morning :)

Chip of the old block that one! She like the fire almost as much as me.
