Hey guys, anyone here into their jet skiing? I'm quite often down at newferry but you get bored on your own or coming back to give someone else a go. If anyone here is into there jet skiing give me a shout, id be interested in some trips.

I've canoed to Newferry a few times, the speed boats and jet skis were a pain in the arse ;) I tried it a few years back and it was awesome fun but you can't hire them any more, health and safety reasons ffs.

Yea the insurance to rent them to the public is mad. jet skis aint nearly as bad as the boats used for wake boarding, though I can have fun with the waves they make. Something that may interest you....I'm considering a charity canoe trip, the lough to the barr mouth? 60 km maybe...

They get a bad name because of a minority of idiots who can't ride responsably. Then of course some people just like to bitch and complain because they see someone else having fun (and yeah some people are just jealous ;))

I came across a first class knob on a jet ski last night!!!!!!
I decided to take my kayak down to the Bann last night, just trying to get to grips with it and generally just mess about in the Sun.
I arrived at the slipway and there was a load of fella's there and one jet ski. I thought the guy would keep it calm till i got far enough away from him, but NO! I was only in the water 1 minute when he stated doing 360 spins less than 15 ft away he then blasted up the river and spun round and came right at me. Once he got close enough he spun it round covering me with spray and tipped me into the water.
I haven't used a sit in kayak in about 15 years so for a slight moment i panicked when i went under, but i was able to get myself out easily enough. I then had to swim to bank towing my kayak. Luckly a guy watching from the side helped me pull my kayak up the bank, it was rightly filled with water and i couldn't have got it out without him.

see it's those guys that ruin it for everyone else and get the machine's banned. It doesn't take much to head off out of the way before you start doing 360 spins - there's enough water for everyone!
Usually a crowd of guys and one ski spells trouble i.e. one owner then a bunch of mates who haven't a clue.

i love seein jetskis when im out on my yak, gives me something to shoot 10mm bearings at from my catty if they get too close.
obviously ive no problem with jet skis as its a real blast and i do a bit myself, but as philip elluded to above- its the arseholes that ruin it and give bad press to them all.
unfortunatly it seems that kayakers become twat magnets ,and not in the good way.... :-*
