Well my highest summit is a mere 850m (Slieve Donard) so that puts me in the dirty wee rascal category, so tell us your highest climbs and we'll see who's the king?

Ben Nevis for me.
-
Donard for me too. Can you add the height for the number of times you've been up :D
I suppose Lennys going to come on and kick all our asses :)
-
Lenny is going to win this isn't he! If it hadn't been for the flipping severe bowel disturbances I would have Island Peak to beat him at 6189m... google tells me Kala Pattar is 5545m so that is my land-based high point, and due to latitude I probably had less oxygen :D
Rounding out the top three are:
Jbel Toubkal - 4167m
Mulhacen - 3482m
You could work on most ascent in a day but it is hard to keep track of exactly without a GPS.
-
The saddle across Manaslu, about 5400 metres......
"Manaslu (Nepali:मनास्लु), also known as Kutang) is the eighth highest mountain in the world, and is located in the Mansiri Himal, part of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the west-central part of Nepal. Its name, which means "Mountain of the Spirit", comes from the Sanskrit word Manasa, meaning "intellect" or "soul". Manaslu was first climbed on May 9, 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of a Japanese expedition. It is said that "just as the British consider Everest their mountain, Manaslu has always been a Japanese mountain".

What a beautiful mountain Mike!
I'd climb that over Everest any day. Stunning.
-
was immense, watching the snow swirl around its fishtailed peak... I need to get independently wealthy and escape this turgid existence !
-
Highest summit for me is Ben Nevis, but I had a more spectacular view from Doan last weekend. Size isn't everything... ;)
-
5895m - Mt Kilimanjaro then Ben Nevis.
I think I may be the king of this one but I still plan on going higher one day.
-
Sadly, Carrauntoohil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrauntoohil) is the highest for me at 1038 Metres :'(
-
Cairngorms for me.
-
For me it's Mount Roraima @ 2,810 m in southern Venezuela at the triple border point of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana.

That looks awesome and waking up in that camp site must of put a massive smile

As a planned walk it is Donard for me.
Although I did get fed up with the ski-lifts being 'windied-off' (again) and no snow low-down one year on Cairngorm, so we walked up the pistes in our ski-boots and carrying our skis and poles. That got us up to the Ptarmigan restaurant at 1097m. Incidently I have learnt tonight that this is the highest restaurant in the UK. I didn't appreciate that at the time, and I brought a packed lunch 8)
I'm planning 'the Ben' this summer.
-
aha, you've reminded me about the old ski holiday in Andorra, got near the top of Pic Negre, it has a summit of 2569m so i reckon i was at 2200m, however i did say summit & climb in my first post so it doesn't count >:(
p.s. i've put up a table on the first post
-
I've been in an airplane at 15,000 feet. Does that count? ::)
-
Only if it crashes on a summit ;D
-
Ben Nevis for me
Donard as well (can't remember how many times!)
I've been on the Bolivian Altiplano (above La Paz and at lake Titicaca) at about 14,000 ft. Does that count? :-\
-
Only if its less than Kilimanjaro, King Lenny has earned his perch so no one is allowed to knock him off it for a while yet ;D
-
Blåhammaren in Sweden is the highest for me at 1150
-
Barre des Écrins - 4,102 m in the Dauphine Alps, France...
I was out assessing a Gold DofE Group a few years back who were walking the GR54 and I couldn't resist it... ;D
-
list updated to include my recent snowdon trip, i'm only second last now :)
-
I'm still top lol.
-
Ooh if we are being like that about it then stick me down for 'the ben' ;)
-
I'm getting higher, 2132m (another 2m and i would have reached 7000feet) now achieved on Cima Delle Pozette on Monte Baldo (Italian Southern Alps), would have got higher but the nearby thunderstorms made me err on the side of caution as i was alone and without my mourne wall for protection >:(
p.s i did cheat a little and got the cable car to 1760m ;D
-
So you basically climbed Cave Hill :P

the queue for the cable car actually took longer than the walk :o i'll hopefully get a wee trip report done tonight, only 2000 photos to wade through :)

An update on my mountains height... I had forgotten about these ones. Sassongher 2670m and Piz Boè at 3152m. We were staying in Corvoara which was at 1568m and we did use cable cars to take us some of the way. It was a good holiday in the Dolimites...
Sassongher 2670m

Seems we're the only country that doen't put big crosses on our summits! strange as religion seems to be such a big thing round here 8)
-
For me the highest point on foot was Dead Woman’s Pass (a climb of around 1500m from day 1 camp) – 4200m (on the Inca Trail). Plus I climbed a wee bit of the mountain to the side but only gained another 100 m or so. We were at a height of 4335 at one point via bus (on a separate part of the trip) and I know id trouble just walking about.
-
Im holding all them montains up :o
-
I might have to put some rules on this, like a minimum walking ascent of 500m, just to keep them lazy cable carring bus trippers in their place ::)
-

;D Makes me think of all them big Yanks summitting Snowdon by walking from the mountain railway terminal to the cairn.
-
maybe they should put a fence round the summit so the train goers can't go there, like they do in the cairngorms, but that would mean us walkers couldn't get to the restaurant for a pint, that would be bad :(
-
I was on Mont Blanc glacier via a cable car.. So I might have upped my ascent!

nope, have to have walked/climbed to the top ;D
-

There is a big cross on carrauntoohils summit? Which is my highest walk too incidentally! Lol
-
New member Sean has put in a bid for king after summiting Kilimanjaro last month, unfortunately he did not realise that LennyJ1 is 8 foot tall and as such Sean's attempt has been totally in vain and he must now seek out a taller mountain or bring a stepladder up Kilimanjaro in order to take the title ;D
Just realised we haven't a Queen of the Castle :o so we will award that to Shamara for being the highest lady until Dowser shows us a pic of him in his christmas suit on a higher mountain :D
-
I don't mind sharing the throne
-
Enjoy it while you can king Lenord :)
-
I went up to the highest point in one of the Greek Islands there: Santorini. It wasn't an impressively high Mountain, but I should get points because I went all the way up on a 50cc scooter with my girlfriend on the back ;D .... It got properly hairy in parts
-
well you did "climb" onto the scooter, we'll need some photo evidence of course, including a pic of your underpants to see just how hairy it really was ;D
-
Carrauntoohil
-
I'm just back from a trip to Nepal we trekked the Everest base camp trail and then to Kala Pattar
-
Well done Alan!
-
Kala Patthar, meaning 'black rock' in Nepali and Hindi, is a notable landmark located on the south ridge Pumori (7,161 m or 23,494 ft) in the Nepalese Himalayas. Although not a proper mountain with a prominence of only (10 m or 33 ft),[1] the ascent of Kala Patthar is very popular with trekkers in the region of Mount Everest, since it provides the most accessible point to view Mt. Everest from base camp to peak (due to the structure of Everest, the peak cannot be seen from the base camp). "The views of Everest, Nuptse Nup II and Changtse are spectacular from Kala Patthar and there are glimpses of the northern flank and summit of Lhotse. The world's highest webcam, Mount Everest webcam, is located here.
Nice one Alan, new king of the castle (even if its not a proper mountain :) )
-
Oops, got it wrong, its only a mere 5545m ::) must try harder next time Alan ;D

Island Peak, Everest Region, Nepal (6189m / 20,305ft)
Kilimanjaro last year wasn't high enough so I set out to break the 6000m mark and the 20,000ft mark. I didn't realise that it would make me king of the castle here.
The opportunity presented itself this year with an option to climb Island Peak on the end of an Everest Base camp trip earlier this month.
I have attached some summit photos. Summit day was 17th of this month. There were 3 of us climbing, a young Australian lad (and now good friend), he is only 21. He will go a long way if he sticks at climbing and Ang Kami Sherpa; the guy who made it possible for us. Legend!
My journey to get to Island Peak (in order of first ascent);
Donard, Commedagh, Binnian, Ben Nevis, Carrauntoohil, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, Bearnagh, Meelmore, Meelbeg, Lamagan, Muck, Doan, Kilimanjaro, Lugnaquilla, EBC, Kala Patthar, Island Peak, Next??...

Chimborazo, Ecuador 6310m, November 2013. Next year Ama Dablam hopefully.
-
Welldone!
That would make you the kink of the castle, surpassing my recent Island Peak adventure.
I spent a lot of time looking at Ama Dablam while up that way last month, looking straight at it from Island Peak in my photos in my previous post.
Apparently it is very technical, according to a guy I know who has climbed it.
-
Congratulations, now we know why the king is also called your highness ::)
I think we should start insisting on photographic evidence, just so we can see some awesome shots ;D
-
Regarding photographic evidence. It's a bit late now since I have just been knocked of the top spot :'( lol
Just received in the post yesterday;
