Just finished the book today, brilliant, riveting stuff, well recommended
then 15mins later stuck the DVD on and cracked open a few coolies to see the words put into pictures
BUT, i have to say i was quite disappointed in the film :'( It was a bit documentary style and nothing like the Hollywood blockbuster i was expecting, especially after watching "The North face" last week.
At least it had a happy ending this time ;D
so my recommendation is to watch the film first and then read the book after, well worth it.

I'll have to look out "The North Face", found a wee site on it and a two minute read of the synopsis is all I need to get interested.
I've just started to read No Way Down (http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Way-Down-Life-Death/dp/0670918423/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1296033911&sr=8-2). It is about at fateful day on K2 when 11 climbers lost their lives.

I liked the film but there was one point I had to fast forward and that was when he had that song running through his head. That so grinds at me. >:(
