I know it seems a bit mad to be talking about the New Year already, but I guess its not all that far away. After reading Chris' post about heading to Donegal and RedLeader mentioning that we have talked about a Donegal trip and never got around to it, I'm wondering what trips we should pencil in for 2011?
Snowdon has been talked about, as has a Scottish winter trip. Then most of us (apart from Liam!) still have the main summit camps to tick off. The Mourne Wall needs doing, and those who did it last year are due another circuit ;) And of course the Seven Seven's.
Any other ideas for new and exciting trips in 2011? Personally I'd like to visit more of Irelands mountains other than just the Mournes. Thinking a few weekend trips to Wicklow Mountains and Magillycuddy Reeks may be called for 8)

I'd like to reinstate the Seven Sevens summit camps, ie camp on the summit of each at some stage through the year.
-
Anything I'm able to do! All of the above if possible...

So far the only Seven I've managed to do a summit camp on is Binnian. Must do better!

mmm, I've had a map of Skye for years and never got there. I've never done outdoors climbing yet, but if I got some practice on similar grades and did a few abseils, I'd be up for the ridge! ...or at least warm up on the mini one if going all that way :)
-
Why not a summit bivvy or 2??
-
All I want to do is get out and walk more with more over nighters , would love to try mourne wall. I have quit smoking and started running up to 5 mile now so I'm getting there :)
My two boys are getting DD hammocks , sleeping bags etc from Santa so I def want to get out mre with them as I never had the joys of camping when younger

I don't know many of you on here...
However, I do run Try Caving weekends with some of the other guys on the rescue team...
I'm willing to organise something if folks here are up for it...?

I'd be up for a caving weekend

I'm up for a hammocking weekend as well, and I see DD Hammocks currently have a 5 day Christmas sale on with 20% off hammocks and tarps etc. Linky here - http://www.ddhammocks.com/products
Also wouldn't mind trying caving, although I do fear I could end up like a very large stopper in a bottle neck :D

It's okay, I know exactly what to do in that health & safety situation having read plenty of Winnie the Pooh.
-
Well my plan in that situation would be prevention rather than cure i.e. send someone through first who is slightly bigger than me and see if they make it ;)
-
Just don't try that on the way out ::)

id love to try that.
never done it before.
im always up for something new.
its just a matter of me getting a lift.
id throw a few quid for petrol.
-
Ok...
Seems to be enough folk interested...
My suggestion is to go Saturday, try a few 'beginner' caves then if folks are interested we could stay over in our caving hut if it's not being used by anyone else...
How does 29/30th Jan sound...?
I can prob gather enough oversuits and helmets, folks would need to wear their own underclothes and Wellies/boots and gloves (more info later)...
Bring your own food/drink/sleeping bag etc...
Share cars, prob best to meet in a central place in Enniskillen then we can convoy the rest of the way...
£10 donation per person to the rescue team...
Max 8 people...
