decided to do a bivvy on binnian last night ooops
took 2 brothers with me for their first summit camp i tried talking them out of going up binnian and taking it easy in annalong wood No was their answer, dont think either one one wanted to say yes to Annalong sibling rivalry :-\
arrived on wee Binnian as i thought we would have better cover and that never worked out the wind was mad we had to walk leaning into wind to get to top.
i did ask again about going back down to annalong wood and got same reply. firts attempt with tent ended in pole snapping and tent ripping again i was getting a bit worried and asked about Annalong nope was the reply..i beded down into my bivvy while i watched them struggle with tarp number 1 ,,well it lasted all of 5min when it took off into the night sky heading towards scotland :o
i was then asked about Annalong wood. my port was open i was snug as a bug my answer was NO..i gave them my tarp but it never lasted to long so they wrapped it round them and waited till daylight..mad experince but my bivvy bag rocks
PS if anyone finds
1x DDhammocks tarp 1xprimus mug 1xblue sleep matt and one blue sock could you return plz

Sounds like a classic. As long as you've got your bivvy and a snifter of something to keep the cold you you'll be alright!
So will they ever come bivvying again?

first time ive used my bivvy in anger and it was brilliant wifey was a bit worried when i got home as i had such a big smile on my face ::)
the wee bottle of port def helps put things into order
one brother says he will never set foot in the mournes again while the other one will be buying a bivvy bag and stripping down his rucksack as it must of weighed 1/3 of his weight..

when the wind was picking up last night i was thinking to myself "surely he's cancelled that trip" :o

With the right gear and a bit of experience you can beat the worst that the Mournes can throw at you.

Anytime. Well almost anytime, got myself a temporary job based in Larne (which is good), which rules out weekday bivvies (which is bad), got my eye on this Friday night (http://www.ni-wild.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1407.msg12951#msg12951).

Well done on the job :-)
I would love to go this Friday then meet up for the "not the mmm" but having to work Friday night puts a big no no and I am tempted for a sickie but the wife would kill me :'(
