The Magee Hillwalking Club welcomes members of different abilities .. all you need is a love of the great outdoors, fresh air and scenery!!
We start each term with Easy grade walks and build up with experience to longer and more strenuous walks. All walks are graded from 1 to 5 stars.
New members are encouraged to attend a short introductory meeting to become familiar with the activities and safety precautions of the Club.
Club members are STRONGLY recommended to take out suitable personal insurance from a recognised organisation such as the Mountaineering Council of Ireland (MCI) - www.mountaineering.ie. The Club can arrange a members rate for MCI membership and Insurance.
We recommend a basic level of equipment for all walks which includes the following ..
Sturdy Walking Shoes/Boots
Waterproof Coat (preferably trousers too!!)
Hat & Gloves
Rucksack
On walks you should bring food and drink, warm clothing, cotton trousers or tracksuit but NO DENIMS.
COSTS
We collect £3 per walk from students and £4 for non-students. Becasue we are car sharing £1 goes towards club funds and the balance is a contribution to the petrol for travel costs.
CARS
Car and their Drivers are often required, if you have a car and are willing to drive on some walks please indicate it on your application email.
