Hello lads and lassies.
I only found this site a couple of days ago and am mightily impressed.
I'm primarily into hill walking/rambling with a wee bit of camping (one night at a time only!). I first discovered my love for the hills as a young teen on S.U. boys adventure camps. They really are a spirtitual place for me. In later years, with the demands of a young family and seemingly never-ending professional exams I've generally only managed one main trip into the hills each year with friends. This year we opted for the causeway coastal walk with camping on Rathlin instead. Recently I've managed a wee bit more walking around the Belfast Hills and southern Antrim Hills (anywhere that ticks off another summit on mountainviews!).
It's definately a target to get a bit more walking done, starting next weekend in Donegal. Can't wait!
I'm enjoying reading up on others experiences, gear reviews etc. Keep up the good work people.

Cheers for the welcome.
We stayed in the 'field' beside the pub; if it featured in a First Choice holiday brochure I believe the description 'young and lively' would have been used. Earplugs helped but couldn't completely drown out drunken sing-songs at 4am from some oul' boys who finally retired for the night remembering that they had to "get up to see the penguins" the following day. :o There were plenty of tents further to the right as you look at the island from the ferry, I suppose the further from the pub you get the quieter it ought to be.

welcome aboard, i'm also a one night only camper ;D and i've also camped at the pub in Rathlin, very handy as the kids were able to go to bed early while we watched the tents from the veranda at the pub, an excellent evening, although much quieter than yours as we were the only ones camping :)

Hi ya, welcome to the forum. Kat and I recently went to Rathlin and thought it would be great for a walk and camp! We had fun on the boat as well... was like a rollercoaster on the way back :D
