Title: Ireland Wilderness
Post by: RedLeader on August 20, 2010
I know you guys are never as happy as when you're on your way up a mountain but if we fancied a few days on the flat / variable terrain where's the most largest, most wild place in Ireland.

Is there anywhere nice and remote that you can do a few days walking and just get lost in for a bit.

Pop over to Scotland and do the WHW!  Very low cost if you take the boat/bus option and use the designated "wild" camp spots.  Or you could just do a section of the WHW, and if its wilderness you are looking for then taking in some of Rannoch Moor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rannoch_Moor) would be a decent place to start :)

I wasn't planning anything soon. Just gathering ideas. I'm really liking the idea of Donegal bring both wild and not too far away.
