hi to all forum members.what a great find this website is.i look forward to many pleasent suprises.my chosen outdoor pursuit is nordic rollerskiing.the inline skates have 6" pneumatic tyres and 1.70m sticks this allows you to negotiate country tracks.i visit the an creggan centre tyrone most days as they have a 5 kilometer forestry path ideal for skating and challenging as it has different ground conditions.if i have a puncture i use nordic walking sticks.i often see the same ladies walking daily and mean to say that having the discipline to walk every day they are missing a trick not using the sticks.i believe that ninty percent of muscles are used nordic walking.type in powerslide nordic trainer skate at you tube and you can see them in action.thanks for reading and if anyone knows of any good paths up to 10k please let me know where they are.all the best guy

Sound like an interesting hobby, Murlough (near newcastle) might be suitable as they have lots of wooden paths, sand might be problematic at times though

Welcome, nordic rollerskiing sounds awesome. Never heard of it before - do many people do it?

hi liam thanks for the tip.as you suspect sandy soil is an absolute killer and not suitable.country paths are the limit to what the wheels can handle.

hi j.i enjoy the skating very much.go to youtube and type powerslide nordic trainer skate and watch the video.there is a similar version called a skike which allows you to use your own footwear.i have not seen anyone else participating but i was hoping that there would be other users on this site.cheers guy

hi mg1 thanks for the wellcome

hi suspectmonkey.check it out on you tube.playing rugby left me with shot knees this is low impact but can be as strenuous as you want it to be.gliding along a country path early morning is uplifting.

hi j.i am down the creggan centre most days let me know if your passing and ill give you a demo.the sport was invented by a austrian nordic skier for his summer training.hence i am getting spares from skike.com in germany ie tyres bearings inner tubes.the skates and sticks come from a site called euroski which is based in surrey.when i bought the skates were 200 sterling and the poles 50.the poles i bought are regarded as training gear. you can spend alot more quite easily.mine are alluminium, composite poles vary in price but are more expensive.cheers guy,
