I think you should really reconsider going down for just the up and down of it, don't know what's driving you to do it in the least time but IMO its a bit of a waste of a journey just to tick it off the list. I think once you get down there you'll want to stick around and do a couple other ridge lines and not just jump back in a car to hit the motorway again (weather dependant.) I know when I did the Irish 4 peaks it was a bit of a downer to have to jump back in the car straight away and not explore the area for a day or two as the hills look pretty awesome!

I thought i'd put my name down! I was talking to mg1 about the possibility of some cycle touring over the summer, would you be up for incorporating this into it? it'd work out at about 200 odd miles down wich seems a lot but isn't really I know its not everyones cup of tea and totally undermining your speed attack!

Did a bit of racing down that way and over the ridge a few years back. The first year we had strong winds and about 20 feet of visibility. Second year was a lot better. Here are some pictures that my buddies who were also racing took on the day:

We ascended the Cahir Gulley from the Black Valley and descended via an abseil off the Hags tooth into the Hags Glen.
