I think we've done a canoeing show of hands before but we've never actually managed a trip yet.
Anyone who has a canoe and fancies a paddle reply with what you have and what you'd like to do. Anyone who doesn't have a canoe but would be interested in filling a spare seat or renting also feel free to reply.
I have a Canadian and I'm well up for either day trips or canoe camping!

I don't have a canoe, but would love to go for a paddle some time if any has a spare seat (there's a technical term for that, right?) ;)
Actually, will have to get along to one of those MTA sessions again, really enjoyed it last time.
-
I also would fill a spare seat. don't worry if there isn't one tho
-
i recon i could fit 2 on my dancer and andy could get at least 6 in his stern hatch!! ;D
-
I'd be up for renting \ filling a seat. Have my water wings after capsizing into the lagan 3 times last time......
-
I'd be up for renting a canoe.
-
Hi ,Have canadian canoe ,when will the trip take place ,Thank You ,cool
-
I'd be well up for something. Maybe a wee overnighter somewhere. I (and my mate) both have dagger blackwaters and would fancy doing some-where different to Strangford Lough. Maybe a wee bit of the Bann or other handy river sometime..
i would need a good bit of warning though so i can get sorted with a weekend off work.
-
I would be interested in a spot of canoe camping. I have a pyranah master but I think I would use my trusty old
fiberglass kayak as you can fit so much stuff into it! The pyranah is no good on flat water anyhow....anyone any suggstions as to
were to go? I normally head to Coney Island both winter and summer but with a bit of notice I would be up for trying a new spot.

;D Am up for this also, what about Enniskillen for a weekend canoe and camp? May have spare capacity for bums on seats :D
-
Am going top give Salt Island a bash this weekend if the weather is reasonable. May even camp over in my hammock!!! ;D
-
God, I promised the wife I'd stay home this weekend but if the weather was awesome enough for me to bring the small boy I'd consider it.

I'd love to go to this, but I think I'm going to have to tie myself to my desk at home this weekend. I've been doing a part-time course this year on top of work and with 4 weeks of this academic year left I've realised that I've around 5 assignments left to finish :o Guess I haven't really changed since my school days ;D

Right almost ready for the off. Heading to Delamont Country Park to do some geocaching, then pop over to salt island for the night. ;D
Must remember to bring my camera and will post some picks after we come back.

Only just signed up to it so forgive me if not great, I'm still learning how to use it. I tried to reduce size for here, but they were still too big :'(

Looks like a great trip. Did you just camp in the plantation behind the bothy? Looks like you had some company - who was in the dinghy.
-
Some people had rented the bothy out for themselves for the Sat night, they boated across from Killyleagh. We camped in the Plantation, snuck in over stile and setup camp. ::)
-
I always wondered if you were allowed in the plantation if you hadn't booked the bothy. Did you canoe to the bothy side of the island? Is hairy there when the tide is low.

;D We did, but were late leaving so tidy was out. Boys climbed out on mud and sank.... so we canoed round to Killyleagh side where you camped and got ashore there. When they said mudflats, I didn't realise just how much mud and how far out it went. Couldn't get near the Bothy pier at all until tidy was in.
I don't think you necessarily are allowed in the plantation, but I need to check that. We were far enough away from the bothy not to be of concern to the people there and the trees elsewhere were no use for hammocks.
Just ordered another 2 hammocks, so tents are out the window now :D either hammock or tarp for us.
Had a great weekend and everyone enjoyed it! Maybe try Coney Island next in Lough Neagh! But will be a couple of weeks as R is working this Saturday. :'(

Really wish I'd gone now - sounds like it was ace. We had the same amusing issue with the mudflats. I stepped out of the boat up to my knees in mud (and nearly lost a shoe ;)). I'm game for the next one!

Looks like a cracker trip hound. What type of canoes are your young fellas using?
Did the dog stay in the canoe alrite for you?
-
Aw was awesome, had a great time. Eldest was on a Red Emotion Temptation sit ontop kayak bought it last year from Newtownards Mike the Bike's, Youngest was in a Freecycle job sit in Kayak, i.e. it cost me nothing it was free as in Freecycle. Both plastic of sorts.
Dog was fine, I get her to lie down as she is kinda big, but she is always glad to get ashore. Getting more used to it each time we are out. So long as she is with us she doesn't mind.

Free stuff is always good mate. ;D

So when are we organising a paddle?
Some evening on the Bann or Blackwater sounds good to me.
Even a Saturday
