Hi Folks,

I realise I'm a tad late to the party but I'm planning on heading out for the Christmas camp with Rumblebum.

Am I correct in saying that the only things left on the list are Port and Christmas pudding?

I see there is Christmas Cake and Port.  Will I bring the Cake? and port or more port if someone already bringing or is there something else?

Also on Comms quoted from PMR446 thread 'We use channel 6 so if you are coming to a meet and have one of these units then you should be able to contact us once you are within range. If possible let us know in advance so we know to keep them switched on.' 'These are PMR446 standard walkie talkies so they should work interchangeably with any other PMR446 units.'

I have a few of these as I'm coming a mid afternoon I can try and make contact when we park on the way up, if anyone has one.

I have a couple of pmr446 also. I take them when I camp in the Mournes because they serve as spare batteries for my headtorch also :)

First post on this topic for me since I can't make it, for the first time in ages.  Pure gutted!  Work do and all that nonsense.  I'm watching the cry-offs on the work list and still wondering if the thing will fall apart.  Snow might put a couple more off.  Designated driver has pulled out so I'm under my own steam.  Might do no harm to throw a wee down jacket and a tent in the boot just in case  ;)

Have a great one, all of ye's.  The snow would make it spectacular, provided you can get there safely.

Guys, what are the thoughts on tomorrow?
I love camping in the snow but I also know that road up to Carrick Little car park.
Getting up and down the hill here to my house in Belfast has been fun today and it's not going to get any better overnight.
I think I will play it by ear tomorrow.

Yep, I'm wary too. I have a car that doesn't perform well in slippy weather. What do you all think?

I spoke to Richard from Carrick Plant Hire who operates the car park at Carrick Little. He says the Head Road and lane up to the car park are both clear at the moment. I'll call him again in the morning at about 10am and double check it's still clear and post here.

Good thinking mate that will be handy. Forecast on sky news gives the snow moving over too the nw of Scotland and a bright but cold day tomorrow. I'll take that.. 😉
