I'm in Newcastle now so I'll pop up for about 6.30 with my 6yr old after we visit the ice house.

There's just something about the sound of wood getting chopped, you'll have to give it a go next time.
It was great to meet everyone.

Wee Hannah really enjoyed the evening and definitely keen to stay overnight next time, nice to meet Big E and flipmeb for the first tme, hopefully i'll be able to stay longer on the next one

Hannah stuggles to get over the slippery log  ;D

the campsite

getting to comfy!

Jonno boiling something (probably his fingers  ::) )

RedLeader looking for his haggis

a long exposure gives some interesting effects

Big E setting up

Haggis and tatties roasting away in the tin foil

Hannah and I went home about 9pm in the dark with only 1 headtorch, which she insisted on wearing  >:( , this made walking the rocky path difficult (she kept looking around while on my shoulders) so we went down the longer but easier granite trail

view of Newcastle from the quarry

Top weekend guys. Was great to meet Eamon and Dave, although I should have known better than to stay up so late, I was completely ruined yesterday.

I was a little bit wrecked myself from the late night, but it was a superb camp.

I had great views from the sleeping bag of silvery spears of trees shooting up to glimpses of stars, the blushing pink mist of pre-dawn, and the warm orange of sunrise reaching into the forest.

Added to that, some new gear got christened, the fire was good, and the company was great.

Considering the forecast was for no  rain I wish I'd not put the tarp up so I could have woken up seeing the treetops. When do you ever see 0% chance of rain in the Mournes :)
