Hi everyone. I was talking to the good folk in the newly built Lurgan YMCA and they have an impressive new wall opening on the next few weeks.
The plan is for it to open to the public a couple of nights a week and at the weekends.
Would anyone out there be interested in forming a NI Wild climbing group in Lurgan ?

Keep us posted on this, i'm sure a few of us could make it up from Belfast for a weekend outing to take a climb on it.

Are there any links to read more about this Chris?
For myself anyway I don't think it's a place I could make it to every week consecutively, but just like the wall at Tollymore, it's nice for a change. That and its even closer to Belfast than the HotRocks.
I can just smell the new climbing holds from here. ;D

Sounds like a plan that I would be keen on. Will check with the Guys in Greenhill YMCA to see if they have more info on it.

I live just outside the town so potentially interested as well. I'm a complete noob on climbing though, would they take short fat gits?

Hi Guys,
Sorry I didn't receive any e-mail updates so I thought there had been no replies after the first day!
The YMCA is opposite the library in Lurgan and beside Tesco. I work in Southern Regional College and am based about 300m away!
Their website has almost no up to date info unfortunately and after my initial face to face, I have sent a couple of e-mails with no further info. I'm planning to call over in the next week and I'll post anupdate as soon as I know more ( hopefully with a couple of pictures too).

Typical- I'm sidelined with vertigo when it opens!

Oooh!
Sounds exciting. Used to climb in my youth- a fading memory. Have a 7yr old who is hooked but Belfast and Newcastle too far away for regular visits. But one on my doorstep. Good stuff. Def interested
