It reviews well (and 666_pack has one and rates it highly). I've ordered one as a 1050g replacement for my 2200g Vango contraption.

it's a great pack jonno.

What's the beef with the back support? Is it a folding sleep mat that makes the back rigid and if so, is it comfy to sleep on?
-
I've the 35ltr jiri OMM it has the back rest also, but i would only use it saving weight was your main priority cause there s not much to it. It just really keeps the cold off your back.
-
But does it not spread the weight to your hips so you don't have to carry the bag totally on your shoulders?

That is a good price! Seems like a really good pack, not a bad way to shift over a kilo of weight for the sake of 10 litres.
Regarding the back support - I thought it came with a back support that could be removed and replaced with the Duo Mat which is the sleeping mat?

no mate the back support is removable foam sheet whick has light weight aluminiun reinforcment (OMM platform i think its called).
The dou mat comes with the smaller packs. it would be a rough night on one but i works well under a self inflate to boost insulation.
-
So do you use it with or without the foam sheet and how comfy is it without?

The support is fine and I would always use it

Apparently the postie has just delivered the new ruck. Now we need a testing weekend!
-
it might require something a bit more substantial than the walk from the carpark to donard wood for it to be classed as a fair test ;)
-
True. Maybe to the bottom of the saddle and back :)

I have it on good authority from Mike that the seller of the OMM bags will accept £40 if you use the "Make Offer" link in eBay making this £47.50 delivered.
Super bargain so please don't post this on other forums or the seller will likely hike up the price!

How do you like the pack jonno?

Hopefully getting its first outing tomorrow but to date I'm really impressed. Can't for the life of me work out the best way to attach the chest pouch and the lacings round the outside are a bit of a mystery but other than that it seems great.
Naturally I had a nerdy test pack when it first arrived and with the basics of tent / sleeping bag / bivvy / cooking system / spare clothes / down vest / hat etc I reckon I was coming in at the 7kg mark so with food + extras I think that sub 10kg is definitely more than possible.
Whether it's comfy over distance or not I'll find out tomorrow..
If anyone's interested these guys to the chest pouch for £16.20 and free delivery:

It took me a few goes to get the compression right aswell. I found the best way to tackle it was to remove it completly clip it in at the base of the bag and work up. I alos clip the last bit over the top of the bag.........If that makes sense.
-
Does compressing it actually make much difference?
Also, is there any way to attach stuff like sleeping mats to the outside?
-
Just lash it to the compression cord a tighten it up. as with anything it personal pref. But It helps to stabilize the pack especially if it not full.
-
I got one of these for £45 off eBay. Just waiting for it to arrive.
-
Did you make an offer or is there another retailer selling them?
There's at least 5 of us with this bag now. OMM should be paying us :)

I went for a very wet 2 hour walk up cavehill this evening and decided to take a load of kit with me in me new OMM. I had the tent, sleep mat, bag, first aid, cooking kit, down jacket, 2L bladder and a few other bits and bobs.
I found it really comfortable, but think I could have packed it better.
Only thing I would get for it is a decent waterproof cover as my gear was a bit wet inside.

Your better off lining your ruck sack if your trying to keep kit dry. Just put a bin bag in your ruck then everything else sits in that.
