Just to show you how long it was, I was at the international Jamboree in Gosford in 1989 and Ballyfin in 1993. This was before your time. I left scouts before the scouts had mobile phones. I went back for a while and all the scouts had mobile phone on camp. It wasn't really the same. I got into hillwalking through scouting and have joined a hillwalking club The Wee Binnian Walkers. www.weebinnians.com.

Stories like this are only too fimiliar too me but still great. My dad talked about the Jamboree and trading badges at the end of it with other groups? I finished the scouts when i was 16 when my dad left as leader. The new leaders couldnt handle it and it slowly went downhill which was a shame as it had 30+ regularly every friday night. Think it has changed a lot now days though, friday night were i live and its kids the height of your knee standing round sharing a cider between 10.

Were all would you go hillwalking then? Any favourites you could recommend?
