I'm reading reports of them up the North Down coast: http://www.seafishingni.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2700 (stupid site makes you register...or if you have the skillz, change the useragent of your browser to googlebot, they let that in without registering)

june 25 - Apparently a few macs being caught at Helens bay but still not in great numbers.
...
june 26 - Plenty of Mackeral for the boys with the feathers at Bangor today.
....
june 27 - Bangor is the only place i have heard...none in Carrick or Blackhead yet. I nirmally give them a throw at 6.30am when the tide is right.

We've been out a few times and not seen a hint of mackerel. Think July-ish is the time so it shouldn't be long.

Thanking yous. Hoping to get down to Newcastle rocks on Sat. Will probably try the lugworm for cod as well as feathers for mackerel/pollack. Will report back.
