Afternoon all, as of Saturday 23rd to the 31st October I am on half term holidays. I am seeing this week as ideal timing for an outdoor adventure.
I realise that this is during the week and might not suit most people but the weekend either end suits too. I was thinking a summit camp could be in order (weather dependant of course)

Bah, teachers, life of riley ;D ::) :P
Circumstances depending I'm hoping for a quick overnighter in the next 2 weeks, probably midweek. Will probably be looking at a summit somewhere. Will keep you posted.
-
I am free next tuesday as it my rota day off as working saturday.
-
If anyone is heading from Belfast and looking to be back early that would also suit me ;)
Got to try the Lidl tent /jungle bag combo at least once more this year (with down jacket perhaps), and I haven't tried it on a summit camp yet.

Good job boys, I hate having time off and feeling like I have done nothing with it.
-
I'm good for the weekends at either end of half term, but probably not much chance of getting out mid week. Will keep an eye on this thread though as I'm dying to get an overnighter soon :)

Would be keen to do a summit camp. Can do Thurs evening/night if it suits? What about Slieve Gullion? Would need to be back Fri morning before 10am though...

I'd be up for a mid-week outing too. I'll let you guys decide when and where and just tag along. One thing I would like to do visit the Black Stairs Waterfall for a few photos, but it might be one for the winter when there is a bit of Snow and Ice about.

Oh... Just had an after thought on location. Doan is another spot I would like to visit. Haven't summited it yet. Bit of a write up here: http://mountainviews.ie/mv/index.php?mtnindex=290

A Doan summit bivvy would be great - I was there on Sunday and the views were great in the nice weather - but Slieve Gullion does sound interesting:
It's a bit different area-wise.
It's a circular route (about 9 miles / 3.5hrs) so about right for a walk in to camp and an early start back for those returning early.
It used to be a volcano.
There is an old tomb on top - being Halloween week and all... :D

Good call Twentyclicks... I like the sound of this too! More info here: http://www.diamondsinthelandscape.org.uk/walk_ring-gullion.pdf

Good link-think Dowser!
I'm ok for Mon-Thurs from 5pm or weekend from 6:30pm. Got to be back for about 10am also.
I'll just suggest there is the possibility of a mid-week and weekend bivvy. I know it's double craic if we all make the same one, but there's a split in availabilities and no reason for a breakaway not to happen if it means folk get out. Matthew's off all week, he could get 2 trips out of it :D
-
and there's talk of snow in the hills :o
-
Crikey! I'll definitely bring the down jacket - the jungle bag is only rated to +8... a few of them hand warmers too.
