Good thread.  I would usually always go for a pint after a walk.  Whilst I love the fact that walking is natural and free, I also think it is nice to drop a couple of quid into the rural economy in these beauty spots.

Mine so far:

Castlewellan:   Maginn's Bar - They do a good Sunday roast also.

Newcastle:  O'Hares  A back door onto Donard Park car park.  Handy for both post and pre-walk drinks!

Cairncastle:  Matties Meeting House  A traditional pub with plenty of charm sitting under the Sallagh Braes (near Ballygalley).  Impromptu tradional sessions too.

I'd love to hear some other recommendations.

It shall always be "the cp", it used to be a bloodbath on saturday nights at kicking out time.

Probably still is!  Sunday was the first time I had been in there in years, the open fire was very welcome!  :)

Ideal sunday dander this..

train to bangor, walk along coast path.

you can stop for a coffee, bathroom etc in the wee tourist centre in helens bay and then continue on to holywood.

pints in dirty duck and a large feed, few more pints. Get train into belfast.

cracking.
