Post by: brendanmcc on April 02, 2012
Some stuff coming up in lidl on Thursday.
Wee stove might be a good cheap, light buy for someone

The weather indicator does look interesting. Last thing I need is another gadget though.

Wouldn't mind that weather indicator myself, only if it was somewhat waterproof for attaching to a rucksack.

I got one of these today.

First impressions are that it is a little plasticy and slightly larger than I was expecting. However, the display is nice and clear and the unit packs a lot of functions in. I'm going to use it primarily to record max min nightime temperatures in my tent and as a pressure guage to help predict weather. However, the altimeter functions might be useful also.

The manual doesn't make it clear if the unit is water resistant. It doesn't mention anything about avoiding water and the battery compartment has an O-ring so I'm going to assume that it is OK.

Pictures would be nice Andy, rather than the Lidl image which leaves a lot to the imagination?

Sports Direct are still having a massive Karrimor sale.... was gonna get the Lidl stuff but the Karrimor stuff on the Sports Direct website was too cheap to let go buy.... Haven't much experience with Karrimor tho.... is the stuff any good? Seems ok out of the packet.. ???

bought the weather station a few days ago myself after a chance encounter with Lidl (harp was BOGOF)

its not a bad wee piece of kit, i got it primarlily for use as a cheap altimeter and a quick test has it accurate to 1 meter, the temp was acurate to 0.2 deg at 10deg (took about 20 mins to settle though) and the humidity was also very accurate at 55% (not that i care about the humidity reading much), its light and compactish so no problem adding it to the overnight kit
