Glen river Walk - Snowy Jan 2013
« on: January 19, 2013 »

Few pics

An Ni-Wilder coming down...   Dave?

It was nice up there today.  Didnt feel cold at all, mild.
Met Dave?  Ni-Wilder, on his way down with a friend.  From Belfast down doing a bit of work in Newcastle and decided to go for a walk himself.
I got to the bottom of the steps up to the saddle as it was getting dark but had stood in way too many snow and ice covered 'deep' puddles to continue :)   And almost face first into a big one at that Big Stone :)  That was with the head torch on too... lol
So came back down, bouncing on my ass once and losing my radio in the process.
Good walk though.

Note to self, bring spare batteries for head torch.  If that had gone coming down I'd have been in trouble in amongst those trees...
Note number 2.  Buy head torch that has more light.  Petzl Tactikka Plus is good we torch but you wont see the neds comin out the trees til they're onto ye, hi!
LED Lenser H14 is on the cards...

Nice wee dander though.  Only wish I'd left the house a bit earlier and brought my tent :)

Hear Hear.  I'm sure it was a joy to get out.

Was wondering if you'd have got out Mourneman.  But hey, you're more of a working week man, just to drive the rest of us mad ;)

Sleighing for me today, and tomorrow!

Really great photos there Big Dod, liking the night shot of Newcastle with the snow in front.

Thought this may be of interest if you're looking to save some weight on a tripod, simple but brilliant idea:
