Just to keep things complicated:

If it's Dowser +1 I'll be staying at the campsite and doing Errigal only.

If it's Dowser only I will be Wild Camping and doing the Glover Highlander from Muckish to Errigal.

I'll wait and see who else is definitely going and what they fancy doing.

My +1 wouldn't have a lot of hill experience but I would be happy enough trailing them up Errigal for the day  :D

I also wouldn't be able to confirm until much closer to the time. I have a product launch that week and it depends on how things go.

Guys I won't make this one since I'll be up there doing pretty much the same thing few weeks earlier.

You may find our plans of interest when making your own.

Myself and Rumblebum are hoping to go up on the Friday night to climb and wildcamp on Muckish.  We plan to go up the Miner's Track and then down to Muckish Gap.  At this point we will have done 25% of the climb (500m) and 24% of the distance (4.8k) of the Glover Highlander Walk.

Some other friends are joining us on the Saturday morning.  With the other car, we'll get one parked at Errigal (the end of the walk).  Back to Muckish Gap (now with daysacks) we'll then do Crocknalargagh, the 'Aghlas', Beaghy, Mackoght and Errigal.  This will involve about 15k of walking and 1500m of ascent.  We can cut this down a little by taking a direct route across the Aghlas.  If anyone is struggling there are some easy exits between Beaghy and Mackoght, or between Mackoght and Errigal.

We are staying in Sleepy Hollows on the Saturday night.  We'll do a wee bit more walking on the Sunday before heading home.

Errigal is a great mountain but on its own it's not a big day out in the hills.  Perhaps half a day at the beach would also be something to do.  Or as Simon said Errigal can be combined with a couple of other hills.  It is not an easy thing to do without backtracking a bit since the area is very linear in nature.

The last time we were there we did Errigal, then Mackoght, then Beaghy.  Rather then backtracking we took a line towards the car.  After a short yomp across grassland we picked up a farm track that lead us back to the main road about a mile-and-a-half east of the Errigal car park.  This farm track may go the whole way down to Lough Atlan?  If I was doing that again I would do it the opposite way round so that Errigal was the big prize at the end.

You could possibly all combine your ideas with a mix of the above?

And if you forget you gatters your doomed, dooooooooomed it tell ya!  If you tackle Errigal first youl probably go across the bog, and sink.

Theres some really wet and marshy ground around that whole region.
