Sunrise in the Mournes
« on: April 08, 2010 »

I went down to Newcastle this morning to shoot the Sunrise, Getting up at 4:00 am and heading down for 5:30am was not easy!

But well worth it. I didn't get anything spectacular, and when I was on the rocks I slipped and fell and smashed my new Wide Lens at £1300!!

After we finished at Bloody Bridge, we headed up to Silent Valley, then stopped off to shoot the Sky on the way back towards Newcastle.

Thanks for your comments.

Some of those pics were taken on a simple Lumix TZ7 point and shoot, you just need to know how to trick it!

There's days you will head out and get nothing, other days it all falls into place.  I really liked Silent Valley, will defo head back up there again soon.

Gonna ring my insurance company tomorrow, hopefully it will be sorted for next week.

amazing pics.

Camera insurance must cost a fortune.  Every photographer I know seems to drop a £1000 camera or lens on rocks or into the sea at least once a year.

Can I ask, how did you make the water flowing down the river, seem all foggy, if you know what I mean ?

Keeping the shutter open for longer causes stuff that's moving to blur but doesn't affect stuff that isn't moving. It's called long exposure.
Wikipedia has a good article on it:

neutral density filter will make the water blurry when used correctly.
