What difference do s it make its still highest. Would they be quick to down grade if it made k2 the biggest?

So....when global warming alledgedly starts to melt the Everest icecap and it starts to shrink, who then will be right about the height of the mountain?

And just to be a bit pedantic about the matter........Everest is not the tallest mountain. That honour goes to Hawaii's "Mauna Kea" which is 10,203 meters from the base to the peak. (Sorry - just had to through that one in).

Part of it is underwater and then it rises onto an island....but - according to National Geographic - it is one mountain whereas Everest, K2, Kilimanjaro, et al are only measured from sea level.

Anyway, was only being pedantic within the context of Tibet and China arguing over 12ft of snow and ice....... ::)

Its 4207 mt from sea level.
If you go from Everest base camp its a climb 3640mt. Interesting. Just need a ticket to Hawawi now 8)
