Gorse fire tackled near Tollymore Forest Park

Firefighters have brought under control an extensive gorse fire in the Mourne Mountains.
Sixty acres of gorse were ablaze on Saturday evening on the edge of Slievenabrock mountain above Tollymore Forest Park.
Thirteen fire engines and 65 firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze, working in conjunction with the Forestry Service.
A Fire and Rescue Service said no lives had been in danger.

I spent the night on Cove, you could still see the glow from Slievenabrock after sun down.

Seems like most of that area was on fire on Saturday.  I saw the smoke from Tollymore, then looking over the lough, the forest behind Carlingford was completely ablaze - a proper full blown forest fire lighting up the night sky, and then driving home we saw the smoke from another big fire somewhere around Slieve Roosley.

Scary stuff.
