Think I'll be bringing the tarp up for this one but not much else. Trying to get my pack weight down as much as possible after my Bearnagh summit camp the other day when my pack weighed a ton. Think that was mainly the 10oz steak to be honest though.

However, our weekend at Lough Shannagh gave it a battering and I think it might be ripping soon!
If it's a rip in the material, Google "TENACIOUS repair tape", meant to be 'the' stuff for tarp repairs, got a roll to patch up a couple of holes my DD got on the iPlod.

Didn't read the original post properly and I thought this was another sat/sun trip. I'll probably not be able to get back for work on time on Saturday so I think I'll have to give it a miss.

It could be messy me getting there for 630 as I don't finish until 530. Reckon it could be 7ish at top speed. Plus I haven't heard from Uncle Andy yet.

Packed my gear last night as I'm out tonight. Just a shade under 7Kg packed without food or water which is record breaking for me :)

From memory, think this is my kit list (as usual the gaiters aren't in as I always forget them). For eats I'll go with 6s idea of cheese and smoked sausages plus a MRE desert and coffee/choc.

Alpkit Hunka Bivvy
Berghaus Deluge Troos
Berghaus Paclite Jacket
Buff
Cup
Down gillet
Gaiters
GPS
Meths 200mls
Mini Trangia
Montane Windshirt
Spork
Vango Sleeping Bag

Thermal baselayer
Hat
Socks
Underwear

Alpkit gamma
FAK inc Firesteel
Spare GPS batts
Spare Torch batts

Question is, it looks like it might be both windy and wet - who's still bivvying?

The BBC satellite images look okay for Friday evening and into Saturday morning.  Hopefully the worst of the rain will be Friday morning and into the afternoon.  That said, the forecast was meant to be good for our Loughshannagh trip and it ended up nothing like the forecast.  So I'm bringing the tent :)

Kit list looks something like this:

To pack:
Vango Tempest 200 tent
Alpkit Pipedream 400 sleeping bag
Karrimor 3/4 self inflating mat
Alpkit Gamma headtorch
North Face 200 fleece
North Face waterproof jacket
Buff
First Aid kit
Hygiene kit

To wear:
Helly Hansen baselayer
Montane Terra trousers
Ice Breaker Merino socks
Salomon Quest boots

Maybe:
JetBoil Flash
100 gas cart
Plastic mug
Spork

If I bring the stove then it will be Supernoodles or Pasta 'n Sauce for supper finished off with a nice big mug of hot chocolate.  If I leave the stove at home then it will be Pepperami and some cereal bars instead!  My biggest issue is that I have either a 35 litre day pack, which wont hold all that gear, or a 70 litre backpack that will swallow all that stuff but end up with lots of flappy material left.  Really need to get a 45 litre job for these overnighters (or carry less stuff :D)!

Looks like its gonna be dry through the night, bit of rain around six on friday evening but dry after that till Saturday afternoon so I'm still up for a bivvy, although I guess it'll depend on the weather when I'm leaving tomorrow so may end up bringing the pro action tent.

Gearwise;
45L Rucksack containing;
Tarp
Bivvy bag
Sleeping bag
Sleep mat
Hobo Stove with hexi blocks
1 pot
Pasta & Sauce for supper and Porridge for the morning
Fork/Spoon
Hat
Gloves
Fleece
Northface Jacket (will be wearing if it's raining)
Icebreaker Base Layer trousers

Wearing;
Montane Terra Trousers (if I can get down to Cotswold in the morning)
Icebreaker Base layer shirt
Karrimor boots

Montane Terra Trousers (if I can get down to Cotswold in the morning)

Awesome trousers, but they are a bit pricey in Cotswold unless you can get some discount on them.  Think the RRP is around £75!  I got mine for £55 from Backpacking Light, and because I ordered a pair for Kat as well we got free delivery.  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how I look at it!) I'm losing weight with all this walking, so my Montanes are starting to fall off me!  Dont fancy paying for another pair, especially considering I've only worn the ones I currently have on a few trips.  Who knows, maybe I'd still get a few quid for them on eBay but personally I wouldnt fancy buying used trousers ;D

Ye they are a bit on the expensive side, but luckily my brother-in-law gets a 20% discount in cotswold for being a Duke of Ed leader. I would go for something a bit cheaper but since I'm off to Sweden next Friday for 6 months I want something pretty reliable as I'm intending to go hiking as often as possible and don't want to have to be forking out on another pair of trousers when I get there, especially with their ridiculously high tax.

If you can get a bit of discount then the Montanes are worth every penny.  I took mine on the WHW and they were the only trousers I wore day in, day out for about 10 days!  They are light, comfortable and seem to repell dirt and mud easily as mine still looked clean despite all the rain and mud we had been through.  Best of all the DWR coating means they do a good job of repelling light showers of rain, and when they do get wet in a downpour they dry out very, very quickly.  Just watch out for static the first few times you take them off :D

By the way Tim, do you need a lift or anything tomorrow night?  I will be passing through B'hinch so will be no problem collecting you on the way.
