Hi guys, there's a thread for the training morning at the Burrendale on Saturday morning. Can everyone please post on it if they can go or not so we can let the organisers know.

Good to meet Chuck, Matthew, George and Lynda at the meeting in the Burrendale today. I have to say, I'm uber chuffed with the free brights and gizmos they were handing out ... worth attending just for those :)

Anyhoo, I think Matthew is going to give everyone else an update on marshalling stations and pairing people up so that each team has at least one person on it who has marshalled before.

I'm happy with any of the stations except the Trassey Track sheep pens. I should be getting a torch/headstrap/camping-shade combo for review and would be bringing it along to use for the event. Hare's Gap would give me the chance to see how it fares in a night walk. I'd also be interested to see what other people think of it.

At most I'll be bringing a tarp for shelter if it turns wet and there is a need to have somewhere relatively dry to make a cup of tea.

Chuck, nice to meet up with someone who ironically lives two minutes walk away from me!

Lynda and Simon good to see you also.

Did I miss some freebies this morning or are they to come on the Friday night?

Afternoon all, just back from the planning meeting and it was good to put two more names to faces.

The bulk of the important information will follow.

•   Be at Burrrendale hotel for 6-7 on the Friday night.
•   Minibus leaves for Bloody Bridge at 7:30 sharp
•   Teams (us) to be in place in the hills no later than 10:00
•   In the morning teams sweep through collecting glow sticks and litter
•   A greater emphasis on looking after people not medically but giving advice if unwell looking out for signs of fatigue or hypothermia. offering a drink to the cold
•   Tollymore is the main venue this year, a change from Silent Valley
•   Teams of four at the main check points.
•   Detailed check in information I am sure this will be distributed on the day of the event, if not we can disseminate the information.

 Kit list.
We are all sensible enough when it comes to this but I will just say that people should check some of the kit lists floating around.

Mine

Despite the quite extensive list, things worthy of note would be that people should bring:
•   a tent
•   OSNI 1:25000 map
•   Bivvy bag and 5 foil blankets ( I presume they will be given out)
•   Bothy bag if people have them
•   Stove, milk, tea, coffee. Don't ask me where the water is coming from
•   Personal food stuffs
•   Mobile phone.
On the day we will be provided with
•   high vis vest
•   whistle
•   clicker for checking teams in
•   clipboard
•   marker
•   Snacks for teams.
People at the meeting today are required to bring the paperwork with them as it contains some important information. I will photocopy this and give it out to anyone wanting it on the Friday.

That should be the bulk of the information out of the way now.
All that is left to do is to sort out teams. In total five teams are required in the following order

1.   Trassey track sheep pen
2.   Hares Gap
3.   stile on the wall at the castles
4.   Donard king of the hill ( three people required)
5.   Bog of Donard.

I will post five different team numbers, just copy and paste your name into the thread and it will naturally fill up

Any further organising is probably best undertaken in the individual groups.
