Just heard that Poundstretcher in Boucher Road got firebombed last night, with some structural damage to the Cotwolds next door, understand that they are closed today but due to re-open tomorrow.
They are lucky they store the gas canasters over on the other side of the shop, that lot could have made a fair old bang..
Anyhow, could be some smoke damaged kit coming up for sale soon...
-
We're heartless, but that's exactly what I thought when I heard about it.
-
I hope theres some scarpa mantas with a bit of smoke damage :D
-
Sounds interesting!
-
Sounds like a good news / bad news situation. Anyone heard from our Cotswold mole?
-
Ahh just like the old days of NI people seeing the best in a bad situation. Is there a single person over the age of 30 that didn't have the same thought!
All eyes on the members-only forum.
-
sure half my stuff smells of camp fire anyway ;D
-
I would get down tomorrow if I were you, some bargins may be had ;)

I was actually passing Boucher today whilst out on business and thought would stop in. You guys are still closed though :( I was really surprised at how badly gutted Poundstretcher is, its a wonder the whole retail park didnt go up! Looks like it will take more than some duct tape to repair that one...
-
When is the sale so i can get a hilleberg tent for cheap ?
-
sure half my stuff smells of camp fire anyway ;D
Only half... Lucky you :D
-
Sale kicked off just after lunch. People were going crazy - I suspect some serious impulse buying went on!
Myself included......
-
Any updates on this? Particularly interested to know from anyone who pays a visit this afternoon. Is it worth going tomorrow morning?
-
Wife's just said that there are one hour queues to get in at the moment, no new on what's on offer.
-
Bloody hell, there must be some bargains.

Sounds like I've missed the boat on this one. What shop is two doors down from the cormarket Cotswold store? ;)
-
Thats not a bad idea :D
-

New Liverpool FC store has just opened beside Cornmarket Cotswold... suppose it depends what team you support ;)
-
Queues are still 2hrs long outside the doors....50% off everything I'm told....
Couldn't be bothered heading down tonight....may just give it a day or two and see if any of the freaky big sizes are left ;)
-
I popped over to the store myself today just to see. I got to within a few meters then saw the que. I turned on my heals, life is too short.
-
It's 50% off everything, as in if its in the catalogue its half price. Its been savage!
-
You opening any earlier than usual tomorrow morning? I'll be over for my usual Saturday morning Starbucks at 9 and I could be persuaded into a jacket or two!

We're opening at 9 am, I don't quite know how to break it to you jonno.... starbucks is closed :-[. As for men's jackets you'd need to be in early and be prepared to hunt as most of the stuff is gone!

So is there much kit left or has most of the stock sold out? At 50% off I would quite literally be tempted to bivvy outside the front door tonight... and I'm not kidding ;)
-
If I don't get a jacket or a coffee I'll be setting something on fire :)

You'll not be alone, and the scary thing is I'm NOT kidding!! there were guys there this morning
Its def worth a look as there's still the odd bit of decent kit around as well as a good bit of mens casual, i'd hit it early tho, to avoid the infamous entry que and the till que's!
And yeah I'm in tomorrow.
-
Top stuff, get the kettle on!

Oh that ticks all the boxes now ;D
I'm really gutted about missing this sale. I might still run in this afternoon. If I am reading this right I can still get money off a compass or knives and forks and stuff?
-

Yup, it's 50% everything (that's left)
So then hands up who's Car->House->Garage has a slightly funny smell about it at the moment :) It doesn't see smoky...more like concrete dusty...
-
was up there today also got a mountain hard shell 220 down to 110 and a pair of socks
sun and mon arethe last days still some bargains left although mainly in the womens wear
-
Bit the bullet and went up, through the doors about 5:15 and still managed to spend £130. I picked up rucksack fillers really, sik sleeping bag liner, survival bag, first aid kit, maps, head torch etc. Big purchase was a Trangia. Cheers to Chris for taking time to let me know anything he thought was worth buying. Well done to those who got the real big bargains in the previous couple of days.
-
So what all did everyone buy? I'm dying to know, but I may get a bit jealous ;)
-
Few random bits and pieces, dry bags etc and a Rab (as if you needed to guess the brand) Pertex alpine coat.
-
Of the things that you folks managed to purchase does any of it have that smokey smell or any other signs of being next door to a raging fire?
Could this be a selling point, like those jeans that are stoned washed to look older than they are or have designer rips in them?
-
There was a definite smell of smoke in the store but I couldn't smell anything on any of the gear. (Yet, in a few weeks time it will all smell of smoke!)

Had a few bob lying about and thought I might make some more. You'll know it didnt work if you see a homeless beggar in belfast wearing all the latest gear!
-

Could "camp fire smoked" be a selling point for outdoors gear?
-

Not really much point in heading down to be honest, give it a whirl. Que's have died down so at least you'll be quick.

Exactly, no point it all sitting in our wardrobes!
Although you'll probably not be allowed to enter the country with that moustache.... ;D
-
if i can get 5 pairs of cheap hiking socks i'll maybe fit into the last pair of size 12s ;D
i wonder how many people will be sniffing their presents under the tree to see if they came from the sale ;)

The tache will be long gone by that stage! mat you have a changabang that coat will die unless it gets some gnarly scottish winter conditions! "A changabang is for life not just a spur of the moment purchase in a cotswold fire damage sale."
I'm thinking scotland early next year? Who's in.
-
Chris is there anything left in store? Or am I about 4 days to late, was going to call round tomorrow morning
-
today's the end of it. anything not sold goes back to the warehouse.
-
argh, too busy working to get bargains >:( , but then again, its only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway ;)
saw this on ebay and thought it was from the sale "Patagonia Light Smoke Jacket" but that turns out to be the actual name of the jacket ;D

I would love it if we stocked patagonia!
-
I'm gutted that I missed this :( If i'd heard about it I would have got someone to go down for me with a list of gear. I heard the queues were so bad you had to lock the doors to stop more coming in Chris?
In a few years you'll all be able to sell the stuff for double the money as collectors items from 'The great Cotswolds smoke-out of 2010', but then again, I think most people on here find it hard to get rid of gear as I do.
