Has anyone any experience of Parkrun.com (http://Parkrun.com)? It's a 5km run that happens every Saturday morning in parks across the world. You sign up on the site and get a barcode and they store your times so you can see your improvement. It seems like a genuinely good idea to help people get out for exercise.

Some of the guys at work use it pretty regularly and say it's a great way to measure progress. I think there are several in Belfast, including Victoria Park and Ormeau Park.
There isn't one in Newry though, and Saturday morning isn't great for me anyway as I'm pretty much always on kid duty then...

A friend of mine regularly does the one in comber which also has a group doing the couch 2 5k programme.

Do it every Saturday . You also get an online record of all your runs and timings . Its also sorted in age groups , etc. They text you and email you your results. Barcode can be used on any park run anywhere in the world.

It sounds like a great idea. Might do a 5k myself and see how it goes and if I don't die I'll give the Parkrun a whirl.

Cash and I do them when the weather is too extreme for the hills or I want lower miles. Great way to get out in parks anywhere. Dogs and prams are welcome as long as the dog is on a lead.

Its good as a tempo run over short distance .would totally agree with Clairebear
