A man in his 50s has been rescued by the police helicopter from the Mourne Mountains after becoming unwell while walking there.

Shortly before 1445 BST, it was reported that the man was stranded on Slieve Lamagan outside Annalong.

He was located by the police helicopter and taken to a waiting ambulance to be transferred to hospital.

The man is now being assessed at Daisy Hill hospital.
