We're goinjg to postpone the canoeing trip yet again as the weather is just too changeable to be confident about getting kids over to Salt Island.
Instead we're thinking of a family camp somewhere - usual story, probably Donard Wood for some craic and meat based fun round the fire. We'll park at Newcastle and walk up the Glen River but as ever, people are welcome to tramp in by whatever means/route they fancy.
Who's in!
Atendees
J + 1
Dowser + 2
Hound of Ulster + 3 (possible)
Jon + Kat
MG1 + 1
Billy Backpack +2 (possible)
666_Pack + 1

Should be okay for this... could do with an overnighter! I might park at Meelmore though and have a bit of a hike over to stretch the legs. Hopefully the weather will pick up by the end of the week cos it ain't looking too great at moment.

Yeap I'm up for this too. Weather permitting I will be bringing my two kids with me. What crazy food are we gonna attempt this time Soufflé..?
See you all Saturday ;D

Soufflé? Only if it's a meat soufflé!!
At the minute it's cloudy with sunny spells for Sat/Sun.

Will keep you posted, but would be Mrs and the kids and myself as usual.

I dont want to raise expectations, so will leave it to Kat to fill us in on whether we can expect any tasty desserts! Mind you, one of Mike's Rocky Roads would do well around the fire ;)

Straight up the Glen river until you get to the style before the Ice House - we'll be in the forest. Should have the pirate flag if I can find it.

Liam, I'm hoping to get to Donard car park around 3pm and should be up at the usual spot by 4pm. Keep your eyes peeled for a Vango Tempest tent and come say hello! :)
-
if i can make it out you'll spot my land rover in the car park, its the one with dents on every panel ;D
-
i popped up about 4pm but the only campsites i found where the abandoned messy ones :'( so went for a wee walk around the granite trail instead ;D (i like the signs and old equipment displayed along the route)
probably be walking past the stile sun afternoon on way back from the caves so will see if anyone is still about then but i'm sure you'll be packed and gone by then

Sorry about that, was partly my fault as I had planned to be up there for 4pm. Unfortunately at the last moment I had to change my plans and wasn't able to make it to Donard Wood. Hopefully catch up with you at another meet soon!
-
ended up not going back that way and went for a wee dip in the Annalong River instead, maybe i'll pop up to Chimney Rock
-

I must agree Donard wood was gotton really messy there was rubbish everywhere and worse..... >:(
