I like the sound of this, wild camping of course!  Not far of the time for posting a date for March, we'll see who comes back alive after the Mourne Way!

I'm gonna do a couple of sections of it, see what its all like. I remember someone saying some land owners have closed the right of way on their land.

St. Paddy's Day, may make it more difficult for some?

Weekend before it? weekend after? I know no dates will suit everyone but I agree St Paddy's Day would just be silly, unless everyones got guinness in their platypus. :)

I really like the look of this too... Great suggestion Craigy123.  I can't attend the Mourne Way this weekend and was so disappointed.  Maybe this will ease my pain  :D

Definitely not posted to early.  Just about perfect timing if you ask me!  Gives everyone time to have a chat about it and get organised.

As for dates, the weekend of the 17th works best for me, but I will work in with whatever date you decide upon.  I'm pretty sure I can get a litre or two of Guinness stashed away somewhere in my ruck if we do settle on the 17th  ;)

Hmm, I'm pretty much free for every weekend that month as yet so I'll go with the majority I think. Make sure and proof your boots and maybe get the gaiters out too for this one.  ;)

Hi Craigy123

Hope you don't mind me editing your original post.

I've added a list of possible attendees, date depending, just to try and get things firmed up.  I think this could be an excellent couple of days.

My preferred date would be the 17th.  Could everybody interested say "Aye" and let us know what date suits and we'll try and go with the majority.

It's Craigy123's idea so he gets the final say  ;)

I really dont want anyone to miss out on this, so can we vote on a date and just go with the most votes? I'm gonna check out a few sections and try to find a decent camp site.

I'm up for this, best date for me would be 24/25th March.  Sorry I know that's a bit awkward, we'll see how it pans out  :-\

I've added a poll, at the top of the page, to to see when suits everyone for the Moyle Way.

Please select the weekend that suits you and we will go with the majority

Thanks

Voted on the poll.

Its the 17th that would suit me best.

The 24th&25th I'll be doing some Woodbadge training in Crawfordsburn, so its a easy answer for me.

But yes, majority vote will dictate, there will always be another time anyway. :)

Just a thought....This will likely be a 2 day trip, any one wanting to run 26 miles feel free. So given that its 2 days it will be a camp...and a week later there will be another camp, the Easter camp. Now I'm fine with that, I've no one who will tell me off for being away for 2 weekends in a row but I know many people on here have family and other commitments to take into consideration. With this in mind and the aim to make the Easter camp awesome would it be sensible to do this on the 24/25 march? either way I'm still in but I would like the Easter camp to be really good.

The Easter camp is on the 31st March (http://www.ni-wild.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2885.msg31005#msg31005), so if the Moyle way is on the 24/25th March then it would be two weekends in a row for those wanting to attend both.

If the Moyle Way was on the 17th then that leaves a weekend in between the two events to keep the families happyish  ;)

Seems by the poll the majority dates suited is the 24th and 25th.

Guessing it just needs to be finalised.

Are we able to confirm this date then and update the list at the top with who's in?

I'm confirmed.  Rumblebum is in too, he's on holidays so not on the forum this week.

Craigy, I couldn't make anything this Sunday.  Can I respectfully suggest that if you get the chance to get out, it would be an idea to walk a section that covers the halfway point to try to identify a suitable camp spot?

I'll look at the maps at lunchtime to see if anywhere looks to lend itself to a camp.

Ok lets get talking.

Which route?

Ballycastle to Glenariff   or   Glenariff to Ballycastle?

Most people who have commented on Walk NI seem to have walked it from Glenariff to Ballycastle.  Not sure why.  Perhaps it is to get the road section from Waterfoot out of the way first?

One possible advantage of starting in Glenariff is that the journey home would be quicker since the cars at the start of the walk could be collected en-route home.  I’m guessing most people live south of the walk anyway.   The other way round we would need to go back up to Ballycastle before double-backing on the way home.
That said you’d need an earlier start on the Saturday to get cars up in Ballycastle for the end of the walk.
I’m not strongly opinionated on it either way.

Possible camping spots?

The summit of Slieveanorra is approximately 24km from Ballycastle and 18.5km from Glenariff.  There is a car park on the Altarichard Road (see section 4 of the walk), if we were camped within a few km of here then other members could easily join us for the evening or do day one or day two of the walk.

Now the summit itself is probably nothing pretty since it has a mast on top of it, the view may be ok though.  Between the open ground and the forest we should be able to find something suitable.  It also looks to be away from farm land.

There is some good information regarding areas to stay out of (farmers wishes, bulls, lambs, grouse shooting etc.) on the DOE website so I’ve noted some of this down.

I suppose it could depend on the direction of travel since it is probably preferable to do slightly more of the walk on the first day, leaving less to be done when the legs are tired and the day is shorter.  Would this favour a Ballycastle start?

I’ll try to get up round that area before the trip and find somewhere suitable.  Hopefully Craigy will be able to also.

Maybe we should take the discussion of exact spots into the members section?

Any other thoughts so far?
Title: Re: Moyle Way sometime in March.
Post by: Craigy123 on February 09, 2012
Beside the mast has some flat land but its always windy and cold. There are a few nature reserves close by the route in section 4, would it be ok the set up camp in one corner? maybe.... I'm gonna drive by a few places for a look. Dying with the cold so a walk may not happen but I can take a look.
As for direction...Ballycastle will have a bar to have a "well done" drink in. Plus more parking options.
This may be a boggy walk so I'll be getting some gaiters (miss placed some nice ones).

Was up round a few sections of the Moyle way close to roads, not many decent camp sites close by(none). There Might be some decent ones towards the summit of Orra herself but I'll check them out next week. Can we get the date put on this and a potential attended list pretty please????

Pretty sure the date for this has been decided above by vote and discussions.  the weekend of the 17/18th doesn't suit a lot of people because it's St Patricks Day and Mothers Day.

The date that has been selected is therefore the 24/25th.  Unfortunately this is a date that I cannot make  :(

At the edge of section 5 on the walk you cross the Glendun River.  If you google images of the Glendun River the land at the sides of it looks suitable for camping on.  Here are a couple of images:

The last 2 images are taken from the website and Flickr account of a member on this site, Dominoyesmaybe.  His blog can be found here (http://slightlydoolally.com/wp/).  If he is unhappy at me showing the photos and wants to PM me I'll remove them.

The area looks potentially good for camping.  In the third picture you can see an area of woodland that would give good screening from the road.  It is fairly obvious on the map also.

Best site so far, but those pics clearly are not really...it looks too sunny  ;) I like the idea of this site. I'll check it out. Can we walk from Ballycastle then to give up a shorter day 2? Also potential of a wood/refreshment stash before the walk. i'll look for somewhere.

Ballycastle start is ok for me.  I think there are a couple of pubs in Waterfoot anyway for a post-walk refreshment.

Potential site found. The Glendun river doesnt really work. all areas are seriously wet and boggy within 1km of the moyle way. I have found a great wee spor which is maybe a little uneven on the other side of slieveanorra. Its 5 minutes walk from the road and only a few hundred meters off your route. its well hidden. pretty sure its 151,243 (red X marks the spot) on osni sheet 9 discoverer series. (I dont have a gps). let me know thoughts, though for roughly half way i think this is pretty good.

its a mile or 2 off your route but there's a very good flat spot beside Altnahinch reservoir at the car park by the main road, also if it was very windy there are potential spots below the dam wall which would be well sheltered, but that area is a bit boggy

Its only 200 meters off the route, as you come down the other side of slieveanorra there is the pollan burn...its right beside that. Altnahinch is about 2 miles off route. Unless the maps have changed, bit like the mourne way.....anyone using quo or something can you put up the gps version of the location please.

Will a fire happen on the over night stay ?
Title: Re: Moyle Way sometime in March.
Post by: Craigy123 on February 18, 2012
I see no reason why not. The spot I have picked is not part of any marked route, I found it by chance. If we dig a small pit and put the sod back I think we can leave a pretty small foot print. There are some dead trees near by but I'll guess they are pretty damp, I'd be willing to leave a good stash or firewood near by though as I'd say I'm closest to the site. if anyone else wants to do a stash give me a shout and we can maybe go together on the morning of the walk. I'm going to bring a few drinks with me this time for sure.

On a different note...water water everywhere...I'd be really interested in water purification methods in the Antrim hills. In these areas all water is pretty brown as its in much peat land. Is this drinkable? or is there a way to make it so Mr Spock?

If anyone feels like they would rather hammock the night away not is a great chance, our wee camp site is surrounded by forest.

Really looking forward to this. Its easy to get to if your only staying the night, its a good start point if you only want to do the second day and I'll offer a lift back to the area if anyone wants to pick their car up again. I'm going to contact a local taxi service soon and ask them how much they would charge to run us back from water foot to Ballycastle or vise versa. Its better to get the taxi to the start point as then your not waiting to go back and get you car.

Make sure you boots are well proofed for this walk, get your gaiters on too. There are a few really wet sections, but thats the ones I love.

I cant wait to say I completed the Moyle Way.

The Trostan section as I though is pretty wet but if you pick your route you can stay quite dry and clean. took a short walk up today in the snow, seem well marked out for an open land route. I only got half way up as a friend got called into work. Who all is down for this walk then? also who fancies just day one, just day two or just the camp?

If we all meet in Ballycastle and then see how many cars we need to go to Waterfoot would that work? Means I can leave anyone back to waterfoot to get their cars and other can just head on home? I might be able to get us more secure parking in Ballycastle...

Done the Moyle several times you can do it all in 10 painful and very soggy hours

Have you got a camp site picked there is some good pitches here under Breen Wood http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC665191-EA15-2393-6D899261EB2D59C1&success=1 (http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC665191-EA15-2393-6D899261EB2D59C1&success=1)

The top of Slieveanora is not bad, but exposed

On the way up/down Slieveanora there is a wee copse of trees here http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC68F508-E5AC-7803-004ADF7BD8CB877D&success=1 (http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC68F508-E5AC-7803-004ADF7BD8CB877D&success=1) which might be servicable

If you choose to walk the road between Slieveanora and Croaghan rather than down behind breen forest  there is a car paark here http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC6B7D39-B8DF-E55E-05B1ABE5778F4FD4&success=1 (http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC6B7D39-B8DF-E55E-05B1ABE5778F4FD4&success=1) and behind it there is a good flat dry heathery space

I would suggest you do Waterfoot -> Ballycastle and get the big up and downly bits done first.

Alternately .. if you are doing Ballycastle->Waterfoot then Summit Knocklayde and the come down into Breen and take the alternate route up Croaghan and down the road to Slieveanora.  This makes the break at the base of Croagan a good spot and adds only 4 miles and gives you 2 more summits in Antrim on the log

Oh and not problems using the piccies back in the thread :-) glad they helped.

Another thing from earlier in the thread. you do not have to walk the road to the Waterfoot to the start of the Glenariff Park. You can walk up the river on a path (no problem with right of way.. you come out about 1.5km before the lower entrance to the park itself. The start is here http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC7A7351-C242-7B88-AA07D3363D4F2F3D&success=1 (http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=BC7A7351-C242-7B88-AA07D3363D4F2F3D&success=1) and is way marked.

The waymarkers are a bit sporadic on the high ground, particularly between Trostan and Sleiveanora.

As of January there are no Rights of Way issues that I am aware of, but when you get to bridge near MacQuillan's Grave under Breen wood, keep to the track, the land owner has duck ponds and shooting rights , there are 100's of ducks all over the place which is a little off putting when they all stop and look at you.

The best view is from Knocklayde if you get a good day.

Keep you eye open for the weird chair  (http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/299102_10150266951996482_576026481_7841974_2889439_n.jpg) and the weird Toilet half way up Trostan

Coleraine is probably better there is bus to Ballycastle Service 172 , takes about an hour and there is one every hour alternating 10 to the hour and 20 to the hour. The Ballymena bus is less regular

wolf>>>Or if you get to ballymena I could probably arrange to lift you as I live there pretty much.
Domino>>> Thanks for the great advice. I may eat my words at some point but I think the wee camp site I've picked is best of all worlds at the minute. Its as close to "half way" as I could get on a site I've actually checked out. plus its near a road for access. That said I could be very wrong and never be asked to find camp again lol. I do like the waterfoot to ballycastle idea but. Is that the way we decided already???

Criagy -> No problem :)

If that is down the Glendun river above the Bryvore Bridge in the wee spur of the slieveanora forest by the road, you should be OK.. but remember the Dun is a spate river, and they planted the trees to stabilize the road from the river. If it rains it could get "interesting" as can be seen by the steepness of the cut the river runs through.I have fished it a couple of times in flood and the water gets to 5-6 feet deep on the bends.  It is also very "sheepy" two large flocks in the area and it has been mild this winter keep an eye out for ticks but then so is the whole route, apart from "Duck Central" which has ducks .... lots and lots of ducks.

If things turn out iffy on the day  if you walk dowstream from the forested bit, about 1km you will come to an old ruined farm house here
(http://slightlydoolally.com/2012-02-27_232902.png)
That might be servicable, it is on a bit of a rise, near the road and has the old garden with few stones and some low walls if you need them

Love to be be doing it with youse , but I am tackling the glover highlander on paddy's day (second attempt at a 1 day slog)

Yep :) I live up in Coleraine so the north antrim and the sperrins are my stomping ground and a bit of donegal too

Last time I did the moyle was August 2011 (in kilts for charity)  did it in 10.5 hours and the Guinness at the end was one of the best I ever had  :D

This year I have the glove highlander and the dungiven to castlerock section of the ulster way in my sights. Tried to do the glover in one day twice now and ran out of daylight on both occasions as I am not the quickest of walkers

I go down to portrush every week in the summer and every other week in the winter, love the north coast.

10.5 hours sounds good for 26 miles

Have a great and safe journy in highlander and dungiven.

Cant wait to get out with NI WILD also.

Heaps of useful information there Domino....  Thanks for all that.  Re: the camp site, I'd posted some pictures of the Glendun River, but I think Craigy has recce'd another wee campsite elsewhere.

About the direction of walk, again I'm not overly bothered which way we go.  With the area we want to camp in we would have covered more of the walk on day 1 if we started in Ballycastle.  Maybe that helps with some of the more hilly sections on the 2nd day.  On the other hand Domino has suggested other potential sites further north which could suit the other direction.

If anyone else has any ideas on that it's probably best that we have a chat now and make a decision and stick with it so that people can start to think of travel arrangements.

I'm happy to go with whatever Craigy feels since he has been on the ground and had a look around the area.

P.S.  All the best with the Glover Highlander Domino, that's quite some walk.  Hope you get great weather for it.

Will we see you at the Easter camp Lenny?
I'm more than happy to try out other possible sites. give me 6 fig grid refs and sheet number and I'll go hunting. However, many places look great from afar but when your on them they are sodden. The little site I picked is quite dry. Its not 100% level but its ok. Breen wood Is rather close to ballycastle, Much more (or less) than half way. I'm open to ideas. Or will I take lead (and the blame) lol

That section of ulster way sounds like a great challenge!!!

Just over a week to go.
Just over a week to go.
Just over a week to go.
Just over a week to go.

Hello my NI-Wild friends. As anyone who is looking forward to this trip knows, its just over a week to go. Can we quickly get some concrete plans put down here. Strangely it stay says TBC but I'm pretty sure its the 24th and 25th of March. Secondly, I'd like to start from Waterfoot and end in Ballycastle however I think others want to run it the other way round which is fine, my rational for this is food and drink in Ballycastle is move widely available.

Is anyone joining us for just a single day or just a camp? Please let us know.

If anyone else wants to do a stash they need to be about 1/2 and hour early. I can meet at the the edge of Ballymena and travel to the place and then onto the start point with you.

Aiming to start the walk at about 10am from either side.
It takes about 35 minutes from Ballymena to get to either start point.

We can arrange lifts etc once everyone meets up.

Anything else we need to arrange?

Looking forward to this one craigy! I dont mind which way we do the route, but would prefer to do most of the walking on the saturday while the legs are relatively fresh!  ;D I will take u up on the lift from ballymena cheers, what time would I need to be meeting u? About 845 or so? I may need to get a bus to ballymena if I can't get a lift, I will be stashing some booze too so will need your assistance with that! Is there wood for a fire at the camp or will we need firelogs? roll on next weekend, I'm gettin another new tent for it! Come on guys, no other takers for this trip?

If you can aim to be in Ballymena for 8:45 then Spud that would be good. I was gonna get some wood outa work and i'm sure a few other will be bringing firelogs etc too. I think we should do the stash together. Can we arrange this???? Please  :)

Either way suits me, but as previously stated, I would like to get the back of it broken on the saturday, so sunday would be an easier day (with a sore head lol  ;))

Take this thing by the horns....
Meet at Waterfoot at 10:00am, there is a caravan site just off the Garron Road. This would be suitable to park a few cars.
Who is for parking up in Ballycastle or will we just get a taxi round? According to google maps the drive from Waterfoot to Ballycastle is 15.5 miles but will take 39 minutes. So to be back on time cars need left in ballycastle just after 9. I think an 8 seat taxi would be the best bet.
Spud I propose the camp site picked is kept. I've looked at a few different places and its the best of a bad lot lol.
If we change the camp spot it makes the stash much harder.

There's a few cars going craigy I think, and there's not that many of us going so don't think we will need a taxi, I'm happy to go with the camping spot you found, I should be hitting ballymena before 9 I will probably be on the train though

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on this thread the last week or so (had a busy week).

If you can tolerate it I'd like to make a wee proposal to help make the best of our wants for this walk.

1) I think we'd all agree that the option of walking further on day one makes sense both from the point of view of tired legs and also making best use of our available time, Saturday being a longer day with being out for the night.

2) Ballycastle offers a better variety of places to get a pint or a pint after the walk.

3) We need car/s at either end of the walk.

We're happy with our campsite however if starting from Waterfoot, it doesn't tick box 1.

What I would suggest is that if we did the walk from Ballycastle to Waterfoot, then it makes best use of our camp site from the perspective of walking.  What we could then do at the end of the walk is jump in the car straight away and drive up to Ballycastle (which we have to do to retrieve cars anyway).  We can then avail of the facilities in Ballycastle, making it the official end of the walk.

Starting the walk:
We could meet at the stash point in two cars  (Craigy's and Rumblebum/whoRya as the other one), then leave one in Waterfoot and all get in the one to go Ballycastle.

Even if there is 5 of us we could get 3-4 rucksacks in the boot and one across people's laps in the back seat.

Does that sound like a fair enough idea to try to match people's preferences?

I'm available for meeting up as early as needs be on the Sat morning.

Im good with that.

Hey Wolf, its great to have you join us on this trip, Im gonna go simple with the food this time.

Lunch im thinking just a sandwich or cupasoup,il boil water but dont want to have to start cleaning all my gear. Dinner for Whorya and myself will be a beef casserole, we'd normally make this and store it in a nalgene bottle till its poured straight into the cooking pot, then just have a roll along with it. Breakfast is a pot of porridge, spud showed me pots that you can get in sainsburys etc, all you do is boil up your water and pour it straight into the porridge so it means theres very little cleaning.

Spud mentioned that he may bring a steak, it is for this reason that we have perfected the art of the sleeper hold, ' did you say that was medium rare spud? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'  hold his head, let him down gently! 8)'

Il be bringing a bottle of wine, you can get the flavoured water from asda etc, dump the sugary keek inside it and itl carry my poision.

Other than that mate, itl just be a lot of nibbles.

Hope this helps. Al.

You can just use the frypan from a trangia mini which is a good size for it, then stick it on top of the stove, heres a pic of my steak from the Mourne way walk a couple of months ago.

But this time its a casserole, its less hastle.

Hi Mahendra, there are 5 of us going on the Moyle Way tomorrow, although none from Belfast.  With this being a linear (A>B) walk we have made travel arrangements so that we have one car at each end of the walk and as such we have each seat filled.

If you are unsure what gear to bring then perhaps it may be wise to read around the forum a bit to pick up some useful advice to help get some gear together that you are comfortable with before thinking about a fairly long trek.

If people want to join us for the walk that is cool, but unfortunately we are fully committed as regards transport.

Maybe not time to bring out the new tent, laim says its a fair weather tent only and going by this morning its unpredictable. Coin flip??? Loads of snacks packed this time, and a wee bottle of cider  :D. Looking forward to this big time. See you guys tomorrow.

I've just noticed some of the older posts and can I just say I hope no one has been put off by being asked not to join on this walk. I understand a lot of people are joining the forum all the time and may not get a chance to pre plan some walks, but all walks are planned and arrangements made. Jumping in for a 26 mile walk as soon as you join the forum is a bad idea. There are hikes arranged al the time and it would be best to get a few of these done before doing an over nighter. Everyone is absolutely welcome on any hike as long as some prior planning has been made. This, I'm sure all agree, is for everyones comfort and security. On a brighter note...I've got cider for tomorrow night!!!

What a truly great 2 days. We faced forests, bogs, rivers, hills, roads and paths. Turned out the wee camping spot was really good in the end, i'm the the guys who went will agree when they wake up tomorrow. This is a pretty hard walk, I'm guessing we covered about 14 or 15 miles on day one so camp was well deserved. Everyone was good craic and spirits stayed high. I'd put this one in the epic walks category for sure. Now i'm tired, sore, sunburned and have a long day at work tomorrow to look forward to. Cheers for making this walk happen guys!!!.

Ok so we all made it back in one piece and i have to say that i had another great time with the NI wild gang. Spud, Craigy123, Whorya, Wolf Larson and myself.

That was one mother of a long slog!!

We decided to set off from ballycastle and by the time we had made the arrangements for the cars it was 11 oclock before we started the walk. It was a completey different walk to what alot of us are uase to with the majority of it being on roads and stoned forest paths, we didnt get the views we had hoped for on the first day as it was quite misty but today more than made up for it.

What a belter!

Its been years since ive seen such scenery, today was glorous sunshine,  rediculous waterfalls, and cracking countryside. Not to mention the sore feet, man oh man we all felt the pain   :'(

A big thankyou to craigy and the gang for making it such a good weekend, i have to make a special mention for Wolf ( Dave),  most people for their first trip would do a quick overnighter or jaunt up Donard, this nutter just walked 26 miles and didnt complain once, wel apart from running out of cigs lol, fair play to ya mate. Craigy, spud, hope youse got home ok and put the feet up, well done for completing the walk as i know both of youse were carrying injuries.

Well done lads and bring on next weekend :D

1st of all thanks to the guys for taking the time to make this truley amazing 26 mile happen over the glens of antrim happen it is something i will do again for sure. The walk had everything from forests montians bogs rivers and holes to fall down  ;D Best of all we where the only people on that path until about 20 mile we seen an old couple near Glenariff forest. It was like we had the whole of the north coast to are selfs. The camp site was a cracker also tucked in of a track with a little river runing beside it where i could wash mess tin and brush teeth ETC... "nice one Chris" Everyone in the team made this something i can not forget, im very proud to have shared this with 4 other hard working guys that may have had sore feet and other little things but no one said a thing as the scenery round you on the 2nd day took are minds of are tried bodys. When we got to Waterfoot Spirits where very high "as Alan said i took off and told the shop keeper to give me fags NOW!!"  :o after we all got to Waterfoot we jumped in the car to balleycastle to get fish and chips then a pint. But the girl made a mistake with my order and give me a great white shark never seen a bigger fish in my life  :o then we got a pint "well i got 2 pints and a shot of Whiskey"  ;D Every thing was timed and worked out lovely on this trip, well done lads.

What a weekend would do it in a heart beat again, thanks to all that made this happen and a big shout out to all the hard work and walking the team put in, roll on the next camp !!!!

Man what a busy weekend, I could have done without having a meeting to go last night.  I could barely walk...literally!!

The walk was as long a walk as I have done in a very long time.  Boy was it a great trip.  Despite being on a few NI Wild trips before I hadn't met most of the guys going on this trip.  It's great to have the opportunity to hook-up with some like-minded individuals.

Special shouts go out to Craigy for bringing heaps of wood, Spud for not letting a long journey put him off, Wolf for taking on a tough challenge (and blasting through it) for his first NI Wild trip and Rumblebum for buying the tent I slept in, bringing the food I ate and driving the car I travelled in (helluva guy).  Cheers for a good weekend lads.

The road sections did take it out on the feet a bit, but the scenery made it all bearable.  The rest of the guys have pretty much given a flavour of the trip, so I'll just throw another few pics up.

That OAP couple was at the very start of the walk, then we did not see anyone for about 20 mile after that. The 1st sign of life we seen was near Glenariff. It was amazing to have the Glens of antrim to are selfs.

Great photos, reminds me of when I did part of the Moyle way many moons ago. I remember coming off Trostan and seeing one of the guys in another group changing his trousers after accidentally wading through waist deep marsh.  ;D
The road part can be quite hairy at times. Well done all..

Mate, what you need to do is:

- click on the photo that you want to share
- Click "share" from above the picture
-  Click on "grab the HTML/BBCode"
-  Put a dot beside BBCode at the bottom
-  click anywhere in the url blurb and all will be highlighted
-  right click and select copy
-  on the NI Wild thread right click and paste
-  I usually then delete the stuff at the bottom and only leave in the first section that starts "[url" and finishes "/url]", by putting the cursor at the end, holding the shift key and using the arrows to select the data to delete (up arrow a couple of times first).

You should end up with this>>

We should start a new Topic on the Moyle way 2013 for anyone wanting to do it. But if someone has better maps skills than me (I have none) it may be better them to start the new topic.

4th - 6th JAN
18th - 20th JAN
25th - 27th JAN
1st - 3rd  FEB
15th - 17th FEB
22nd - 24th FEB
1st - 3rd MARCH
15th - 17th MARCH
22nd - 24th MARCH

2013....... I cant do any weekends ;-(
