Title: Showers
Post by: DrMonkFish on January 05, 2016

Happy new year all.

Quick question. Are there any showering facilities in the Mourne Area? Just somewhere for a quick decontamination after coming off the hills.

Thanks.

V.

Meelmore Lodge http://meelmorelodge.co.uk/camp-site/1376350 has a campsite and may let you use the facilities, especially if you cross their palm with silver and have a fry up in the cafe while you are there.

Good plan and you mean I may have to indulge in a big fry up as well? Well I suppose, if I'm forced....

The only ones I know are at Meelmore but I don't know if you have to be camping there to use them. There's a youth hostel type place round Attical Way, they might have some facilities. Also Bloody Bridge Campsite has showers. Maybe the Mountain Centre at Tollymore, I've no idea what their facilities are like.

I'd personally recommend the big pool on the Bloody Bridge River about a mile up the trail. We've been in there a few times, bit cold but you'd come out clean  8)
