but hea if your still up for it we can give it a go, ;)

We climb most weekends (usually sunday) in the mournes you're welcome to come along any time, Check out the Logbook/photos on http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/showlog.html?id=74201

Hi Ally
I think i was talking to you on climbing.ie. I'd be up for some climbing in the Mournes, I couldn't lead anything just second.
-
Hi alan, yea definally be up for that any sunday suits me, let me no when it suits yas, looking forward to it, its great to see the summer coming, been a long winter!
hi MG1 yea i noticed the name, this seems to be a great site, climbing.ie great site to, i cant lead either, i walk to the top of the route, throw the rope over and climb up, i will learn to lead when im a better climber, im a beginner myself, if thats all ok with ya we can go some saturday,if it suits you, if weathers good, do ya have harness and shoes?
-
Yeah mate have a harness and shoes. I've all needed for seconding.
I've been itching to get out climbing for ages. Bouldering in the o-zones just not the same.
Is it only weekends that suits you?
-
yea just off at week ends maybe i might get a day of during the week but i wouldnt no when, just when im not busy, does the weekends not suit ya? im not very good at climbing mate, i dont have much experience at all, but we can still give it ago .
-
I can get some weekends off. We'll get a date tied down and get out. We could arrange it for a time when another trip is going on. we could get a full day climbing and the next morning.
-
I'd be up for tagging along sometime. Been climbing indoors for just over 2 months now so still not that great a climber, but I was lucky enough to get to Scotland for some winter stuff which helped show me the ropes for some outdoor stuff, although it was mostly scrambling type stuff but got a bit of experience building anchors, placing protection and that sorta thing and got to lead a few pitches going up the Ledge route on Ben Nevis and Feacall Ridge in the Cairngorms
-
yea MG1 sounds good, let me no a date am free most weekends!!!
hi tim, i go out most saturday morning, if ya read the rest of my posts, top rope is the height of it, more than welcome its just me that goes, any saturday ur free let me no!!!
-
Sounds like a plan Ally, I'm free most weekends too but really busy with uni at the minute, should have all my work out of the way in a week or two though. What have you got gearwise? I'm guessing you have your own rope and enough to set up an anchor at the top? I have nothing other than a pair of rock shoes, although im hoping to get a harness and a few screwgates and slings this week, as well as a few quickdraws for leading at the wall in the PEC

-
I'm Tim's climbing buddy, and I'd be up for this too. I have my own harness and rock shoes etc. I'm going on a trad climbing trip to the Peak District on the 17th, which should be pretty awesome :D
I too have a lot of uni work though, so I'll have to wait a few weeks.
-
There seems to be a steady wee group of climbers building up. Hopefully get plenty of climbing trips over the summer ;D
-
enjoy the trip ZTO hope the weathers good 4 yas, then ya can get back and show us the tips.... yea hopefully we should all get out plenty over the summer !!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

-
Looks like I'm not going to get to the Peak District :(
So what's the plan for the 17th? Anyone have any particular routes in mind? Hen Mountain is supposed to be good, or the Bearnagh Slabs may be fun.
Also, I can offer a lift to anyone from the Ballynahinch area who's coming along, if it's still happening.

Sounds like a plan Alan. Me and ZTO have got ourselves sorted with helmets and we have our own harnesses, shoes etc but no rope or rack other than a sling and a few screwgates. We've also been invited for a bit of climbing on Saturday the 16th in the Mournes as well so I think we're going to bivvy somewhere on Saturday night and meet you all at Hen on Sunday morning
-
tim, zto, big e, i will meet you on sunday morning around 10 am and will bring ropes etc, enjoy saturdays climbing
-
Excellent Alan, see you then. Theres been a change of plan again in that the guys we were going climbing with on Saturday have had to pull out due to work/travel etc etc so we'll not be camping over that night, so we'll meet you at the carpark at 10? Or shall we all just make our way to the top and meet there
-
Just wanted to say i had a great time climbing on sunday. It was good to meet everyone and a big thanks to Alan for the lend of equipment and showing me the ropes.
Eamonn
-
Any photos anyone?
-
A great day was had; many thanks to Alan who's a great teacher.
Alan took a couple of photos, he said he'd put them up somewhere at some point, so we'll have to wait and see.
-
I'd also like to say thanks to Alan for a great day, possibly the most fun I've had in the Mournes, and definitely the most educational. Hats off to Eamonn as well, don't think I would have had the guts to do some of that as my very first time climbing.

We will have to get out climbing over the easter holidays, might head to the Annalong Buttress some good routes there !
-
Great pics there Alan, would you be able to send me a copy of them? Ye definitely have to get out and do that again :D
ZTO and I went up Binnian today for some bouldering stuff which was good fun, aside from my taking a pretty large fall and momentarily thinking my leg was breaking as I hit the ground but I survived
-
That looks fantastic guys, I just need to get a couple more bits of kit myself and sort the wee fella out and we are ready to do some climbing again. Would you mind Alan if I tagged along sometime? Brian
-
Great pics. Just wish I wasn't like a schoolgirl on a ghost train when it came to heights!
-
Did you guys all abseil back down again?
-
Did you guys all abseil back down again?
Yeah, we didn't have to though. You can just walk off most of the routes in the Mournes, but we figured abseiling would be more fun :P
-
Its the only way really ;D
-
I'm looking forward to the next time and i should have some rock shoes by then too!
-
Great pics guys, definally hope to get next time with yas!!!!!! thats the weather for it :)

I would love to come down and take some shots. Might do abit of climbing. Keep me informed on here. Cheers
-
All right, looks like I'm going to be able to come along on Sunday. I'll be driving down with Tim as far as I know, and anyone from Ballynahinch area is welcome to a lift there and back. I should say though, I'll be heading home at around 3 or 4.
What time will we be going down? I'd be happy enough meeting at 10 again, presumably at Bloody Bridge carpark.
Weather looks great, which is a bonus :D
-
would meeting at 9am at the bloody bridge be ok with everyone, just to make the most of the day, i'll have to leave around 3 or 4 myself, i'll also bring a couple of extra harnesses
-
See you at 9.
-
I'm good to go for 9 too, I'll have to wait and see if it's okay with Tim though.
-
Mind if I tag along gents, I will meet you in the morning at the Bloody Bridge.
-
Any chance anyone could bring some finger tape tomorrow? I split my finger open again right down to the tissue while bouldering the other day on bearnagh and I can't get home to get mine before tomorrow. Don't want to rip it open again if it can be avoided
-
Aye tim it's in the bag + a few bandages for zto's arm ! ;D
-
It still hasn't healed :P
-
Once again another grand day out on the crag. Weather was fantastic for it, and it was nice to see a few new faces. Managed to get in Spanish Flea with ZTO and AllyC after everyone else left although ZTO had a bit of an epic ::)
On a more serious note, the fires in Annalong valley were horrendous, I originally thought it was in Annalong wood but it turned out to be around Percy Byshe, and spreading up Lamagan and cove. From Annalong buttress you could hear the roar of the flame on cove, with the fire spreading up the vertical cliffs. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be anything be done about it, with a few news reports saying that the fire was just too big to be contained. I'm sure the whole valley will be in a state of complete devastation, the worst part of it being the statement from the fire brigade saying that it looks like a deliberate fire.
-
Had a great day today with you guys, cant wait o do it again now.
-
Thanks alot to Alan and Eddie for taking us up and showing us the routes today.Great day out climbing, was nice to meet yas all, weather was amazing, lets hope it keeps up, spanish flea very good climb, both climbs where, and if it wasnt for ZTO i wouldnt have got to use my rope ;)
-

Great day climbing today, though I got some bad sunburn.
I also had a bit of an incident on Spanish Flea... The top rope was too far to the right as I climbed, and got wedged behind a distant flake on an awkward move. I moved up a little to get into a position to free it, which created a lot of tension and it got stuck. I couldn't reach it, I couldn't traverse or downclimb. Because of the amount of slack on the rope caused by it getting caught, I didn't really fancy taking a big fall and so Allyc had to abseil down and free the rope. After some struggling rearranging the rope all the way up, I did manage to finish. Really quite stupid and embarrassing, but it's all part of the fun I suppose...
-
All part of the learning process zto, Spanish flea is a great route to lead, hope you enjoyed it.
